So, friend and I took a field trip to the local Farmers Market yesterday. Although, kind of being between seasons, they didn't have a lot of produce there. One booth they did have though was one that was selling mushrooms from their mushroom farm. They had some I had never seen like some yellow ruffly ones which may have been Chantarelle, not sure I didn't ask but should have, and Lions Mane. I was tempted to buy some just for the novelty, and the nutrients, mushrooms are very good for you, but at 8 bucks for a pint sized container, I decided to pass. I will get some from the store next time I go though. I think I should try to eat them all in one go, or at least the next day, because whenever I buy mushrooms, I eat maybe 5 or 6 of them, and the rest invariably rot, just not a big fan.

@Beestring Yes, that is why it is best to get those commercially produced unless you really know what you are doing.

Not sure, but they are a version of Morel which are mostly edible. To me it looks more like a sponge honestly, you know the natural kind they pick up from the ocean.

@LadyDuck Are there certain designated areas or what, or is it just up to the public to self enforce?

@snowy22315 We do not find the morels here, but there are many chantarelles and some porcini, not many. We can pick up wild ones, some days of the week and only a limited quantity.

@sica98 I wasn't either. I was drawn to the mushroom booth to see the exotic, at least to me, looking mushrooms.

I once read a big article about Mushrooms. A former editor of a big Indian newspaper wrote that.
He is Vir Sanghvi and writes a lot about Food from across the world, and experiences firsthand.
So did you cook and eat any Mushrooms recently?

That looks like morels I've seen in California... but without knowing for sure, I wouldn't pick those.
Pretty always says mushrooms taste like dirt so she doesn't like them but, when I buy mushrooms to bread and fry, she will eat as many of them as I will let her eat. I have to tell her to stop eating them as fast as I can fry them so I'll get some of them, too.

That does look interesting.
Mushrooms are easily perishable. And they are a bit on expensive side here. I will get some mushrooms on Wednesday when I get veggies.

They are good with certain things like steak or spaghetti sauce. I am going to try to make myself eat more of them. Stuffed portabellos are quite good. You almost forget it is a mushroom!

it does look interesting. can you buy less, to be sure you'll eat them? we keep them in the freezer, i don't know if they'd go bad after some time cause we usually eat them in the next few days

The only ones they seem to sell in small quanities are portabellos, and some of the sliced ones.
