I am sure most here have a collection of recipe books. Not just recipe books but recipes suggested by friends and family. I have them too - quite a few. Some recipes that I learnt from my mother I know them and I have not written them down. I used to be glued to the tv too wanting to learn something new but not any more. You tube has them all. No one wants my recipe books

I started writing down recipes that Pretty and I used all the time. (She was 5 years old when I started my recipe book.) Over the years it had gained new recipes that family and friends suggested, if Pretty and I liked them, too. I gave all my old recipe books to the public library here in our city. I think they sold them to raise money to buy new books.

@allknowing I do neither. I cook the way I like. I used to use recipes occasionally. I don’t know why I collected so many.

I love my recipe books, some very old with historic recipes. I have also many that I typed and I added a photo taken of the dish I prepared. I have so many, no more time to make them all again.

I also have a lot of recipe books at home. Even there are many ways to learn cooking online, but sometimes it is still cool to have cooking books

Ever since I was single, I have had fun collecting recipe books, recipe articles and printouts. I love browsing them on youtube and Facebook. That is where I was motivated to cook. i can cook and bake whatever is there and I am loving it.

I gave away some cookbooks a few years ago. I have one that contains recipes for dishes I cook and know they're good.

Recipe books for me are like guides you glance through but never follow. But some people do hang on every word and detail and ingredient. I think most people look at recipes and think, "too complicated," and move on. But I do know recipe books are also great sellers. So, there's hope. I generally use recipe books for ideas. Not recipes.

Talking of following recipes to the 't' I made that mistake when I baked a cake. The number of eggs depend on the size of the egg and these days the eggs we get here are smaller. Next time I shall add one more egg (lol)

@allknowing Well, I WILL say that when it comes to baking, it's almost a must to follow a recipe. There is a lot of science going on in baking, and if you get one thing wrong the whole thing is a disaster. That's not usually the case with cooking.

I have an old recipe book that I started when I was newly wed. Now most of the recipes are on my tips and I hardly use that book. And when I have to try something new, I look upto YouTube.

@allknowing She was a legend and a pioneer in Food and Nutrition industry in our country. I never read any of her cookery book. But yes, have read and heard about her. I never bought any recipe book. I got some free with purchase of cooker, oven, microwave etc..And I did write down others when I found some interesting dishes in friends and relatives place.

They really looked like an antique book you have there. I guess you are right you really do not need to keep them like that since you can easily get one from the net and can learn it visually as well. I also started exploring YT as well when I want to know something and instantly you can have hundreds if not thousands of information to get there.

I have cookbooks but no books where I have saved recipes. I used to save them, then I realized I never made them again, once I saved them.

I only have a cookbook that has a lot of different recipes in it. Mostly I just make up my own and everything turns out good.
