Ketchup on Eggs

Putting ketchup on eggs is a bit of a controversy. It's one of those things that is either a solid no or a solid yes, and hardly ever a maybe. But it is a throwback, for me, from when I was a kid, and I know many people that do it.
Others shudder.
For dinner last night I made a batch of scrambled eggs with onions, green peppers and ham with some buttered toast on the side.
Would you put ketchup on your eggs?

My mother in law used to shudder when I would put ketchup on roast beef. Now I don't do that anymore and wonder how I did it back then

@Marilynda1225 Yeah. I agree. Roast beef is too good by itself to need ketchup. But I guess if someone likes it, who am I to judge? Still... lol

I don' t use processed stuff if l can have fresh. Whenever l do scrambled eggs l first stew fresh tomatoes and a few pieces of garlic or onion, a pinch of salt and a pinch of thyme - then add the eggs to the mixture.
Back in the day before l changed my eating habits , l loved ketchup on French fries.

@RebeccasFarm I agree. Ketchup is simply good on scrambled eggs. Interestingly enough I do not put ketchup on anything but scrambled. I never put it on fried, on an omelet or any other type of egg.

@DaddyEvil I agree. But it also goes on my scrambled eggs. lol
Speaking of fries, when I am at Arby's I dip mine in horsey sauce.

I've put ketchup on my eggs before. Don't really do it anymore, these days I put hot sauce on my eggs. I've seen lots of other people do the same thing. But I wouldn't be opposed to using ketchup if no hot sauce was available.
I thought I was weird, but apparently this is more common than I had ever realized, but I used to eat a lot of cottage cheese and I would put ketchup on it. Seems a lot of people I have run into over the years do the same thing.

I see a lot of people putting hot sauce on their eggs. Not my thing. I don't like fire and like to actually be able to taste my food.
I was actually surprised, reading through the comments, that more people seem to like ketchup on their eggs than don't. I was sure it was the other way around.

@Nakitakona Not uncomfortable. Just a little surprised more people like it than don't. I always thought it was the other way around.

It’s not for me. But I’m not eating it!
The thing I find funny in terms of controversy is pineapple on pizza. Pineapple has long been a garnish for ham, so what’s the big deal?

I don't understand your problem. A controversy? I doubt that anyone I know has a firm opinion on the topic and would see it as worth discussing.
I don't put ketchup *on* eggs, I put it on a slice of bread or toast *under* eggs and spread it with a knife.
You've just given me an idea. I haven't eaten this for a while and will prepare it tomorrow.

@porwest I've just remembered a recipe I got to know from Danish friends. It has two names. I learnt to call it 'Sun over Bornholm'. (Bornholm is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, to the east of the rest of Denmark, south of Sweden, northeast of Germany and north of Poland).
I could never eat an egg for breakfast. This would be lunch for me.

I would put salsa on the eggs you describe. Ketchup on corned beef hash.

I always put ketchup on my eggs. What's the big deal? Except if you're from the south. My mom, who grew up in North Carolina, never saw it until she married my dad, and they settled in NJ. Must be a "Yankee thing."
