Don't be late!

There has been some discussion lately, mainly between @DaddyEvil, @xFiacre and @Fleura about punctuality. My sister-in-law (Emily) is NEVER punctual, but another sister-in-law (Joanne) used a very creative ploy to ensure Emily wasn’t late to catch a catamaran on the occasion of Joanne’s daughter’s wedding.
A large family contingent had travelled from Western Australia to Sydney for the wedding and it was imperative that we were all on time to board the catamaran for the occasion. Joanne spoke to Emily saying she was worried some members of the family might be a bit tardy and could Emily try to ensure that everyone was on time.
It worked like a charm. Emily bustled around chasing everyone up and we were all down at the pier in good time.
The photo is Vince's used with permission.

I've had a lateness problem most of my life, but I'm more punctual now than ever. That was a good plan that Joanne used. Like Emily, I learned that I could be on time when I really had to be.

@BloggerDi I’ve always been the same. Always at least 15 minutes late. The past few years I’ve done better but with the new baby a year ago im sort of readjusting all over again and late often .

That was a good way to handle a tardy person!
Thanks for the mention.

@JudyEv Oh, yeah... definitely things that work for other people won't work for everyone. When I had a wife, several times I just refused to go. She didn't want to attend my family functions so that meant everything was up for debate and a refusal if I didn't feel like doing whatever she planned.
I was honestly lucky... neither one of my ex-wives wanted to do things with my family. *shrug* So once I found out how dysfunctional their families were, it made it easier to refuse to join their family for things.

How very clever. Much better than telling her the wrong time to make her get there early.

It certainly works. The rest of the family still has a giggle about it occasionally. I don't think she has ever woken up to the fact that she was tricked a little bit.

My husband is always late. I make sure and prod him along to get ready and tell him we need to leave earlier than we should.

@LindaOHio I can't remember if Vince used to be late or not. I can't remember back that far but it's good that you can.

@JudyEv He used to be late for almost all of our dates! So he hasn't changed in over 50 years.

One of my sons is like that. We have been known to tell him something starts before it really does, like ''hey, we have to be there at 6pm, when in reality we don't have to be there until 6:30 pm. Hey, it still works.

@MarieCoyle I can understand that, in some situations, it's very hard for your son.

He has OCD, always has. He functions at his job just fine, he functions at everything he does, but he is so meticulous and some things take him half of forever to do--if he is cleaning, or sorting something, or working on a computer or his car--he takes his sweet time! According to him, it has to be done a certain way. He does try hard, he plans his time fairly well, he just doesn't always get out the door on time!

@aninditasen To change any behaviour, you first have to want to change I guess.
