Stress and destress...

I have a tendency to plan...and I hate my plans being disturbed.
So work ..today I will clean this cupboard, tomorrow I will settle that room, that kind. I don't mind if it gets interchanged. But work must move...
This week, I was to get repairs done at aunt's place...
By god, I felt so stressed out about it, that I decided, forget it....I will do it after Diwali...
Suddenly I felt more relaxed.
While more can be accomplished with the way I stuff in my time, I still feel, periodically we need to be kind to ourselves.
It is not my method...my first boss used to try that ...so that everybody felt relaxed sometime...
So I can again start slowly increasing my work to a level that I feel tense, and then tell me, no I am gonna take it easy...give me a decent break and restart.
How do you all stop stressing?

@vandana7 It's not that difficult. I tell Pretty what's annoying me and then I forget about it. IF she comes and tells me about a problem, then I start worrying about it again.

Stress is really a big concern for growing generation. I usually do some exercise to relieve stress. Cardio and Weight training.

I love planning what to do first so that I can accomplish and finish a given task but sometimes things dont work out our way , so what Im doing is I stop for a while and rest. I think and then I tell myself that it happens for a reason and Im off to doing plan B .

I like to plan too and hate for a plan to go south for some unforeseen reason. Do you have to increase your work to the point that you feel tense? I wouldn't like that.

@vandana7 .........Well, I think it could be something much worse you were addicted to. This is a positive addiction.

It is a type of addiction. Ok..I start with a plan, and then see something...let me do this bit too, and if I manage to do it, I feel super thrilled because it is beyond my planned stuff.
The accomplishment of task often makes me get something of a high... which is what is addictive and so I tend to add and add and add till I feel tense. Then as my former boss used to do. No ..I am not going to do this...world is not ending today, or this week. That completely puts me at ease. Thereafter I restart slowly and build it up to a point when I can again give me a break.

I think your method is best Vanny. You can only do what you feel you can. There is so much for you to do..I know it is a lot.

It was pretty realistic actually till others disturbed it. Househelp has taken long off, may not turn up for a couple (3 to 4 months because her husband is down), not sure I want to call anybody else ... will try after a fortnight or so, may be next month. But honestly, I am enjoying the household chores. I also have a program with my neighbor... that is materializing from this saturday through next Sunday ... so kinda.... first get this one out of picture then...the next. When househelp does the work, there is always that feeling, this is what she has done, not done...and so on. When we do it, we are listening to music and enjoying it. Neighbors think we are odd, but I honestly enjoy cleaning Pony ji. I am 63, and may be I can do it for another six or seven years. This is my last chance before I step into old age home. LOL So kinda....dad too down means, he cannot obstruct me.

I had very few good bosses so I often had to leave my job. I felt relaxed when I was my own boss as a freelance content writer and online teacher.

No boss is ever good. LOL He was a task master. We had deadlines. We struggled to meet them. LOL Then somewhere towards end ..he would say...enough is enough..go home. At that point, a little bit of disappointment would be there, because we would have sort of prepared balance sheets, only printing would be there... or verification. But I am realizing the value of what he was doing.

@vandana7 I had a boss when I worked in a corporate sector who always tried to frame employees as the cause of some financial so that he could reduce your pay scale. I resigned before he could do that. He had laid the trap for me but wasn't successful.

I am always planning and making lists and stressing. I'm just that way. I like things done NOW, not a year from now.
