If you're wondering, it's a door-handle

You might be battling to understand the photo. I took it at the same time as I took the door-mat that featured in my last post. It’s actually a piece of root that is somehow fastened to a glass door and acts as a door-handle. There is something similar on the other side. These people live in another idyllic locality with steep hills and valleys. I’d love to house-sit for them but I think there is too much work there. They have a lot of garden and a large number of pot plants – oops, sorry, @DaddyEvil – potted plants and also dozens of bonsai, although the latter wouldn’t take much looking after.

I don't mind what you, or they, do with pot plants... as long as you keep the plant and the smoke away from me. (I'm allergic to both.) That's a very interesting door handle, though. I wonder how they thought of that?

I'm not sure how they came up with the idea. I guess it's just what creative people do.

That door handle should qualify as the 9th or 10th wonder of the world!! Someone is highly imaginative !! But I myself would never want such a door handle. One more thing : If one can dismantle this door handle fast enough, it can also be used as a heavy weight weapon!!

I can understand that it isn't everyone's cup of tea, so to speak but it does fit in with the rest of their quirky and creative bits and pieces.

That's pretty unique, are you sure it won't sprout out some new shoots if it gets wet?

They have sheep including my last two - Harry and Solomon. And they have three horses. I don't think they have any poultry.

In the whole context, it didn't seem out of place. The photo doesn't really do it justice.

That's creative. I noticed that the handle is not that smooth. Will it hurt the hands?

It has been sanded so there are no splinters in it. It wouldn't hurt your hands.

Those are very cool. I appreciate the “no waste” attitude, too: can’t use it for anything else, so make a door handle out of it!

That is a different door handle. Most plants, even pot errr potted ones wont die in a week unless you flood them fully So I think you could do it ok.

And the bonsais probably wouldn't need watering at all. However, I doubt they ever leave the place for more than a day or two.

@akalinus We had a coffee with them on that morning. I did another post about a door mat she'd made. I'm not sure if you saw that. It would have been around the same time and probably had some tags the same.

That has to be the oddest door handle I have ever seen. Not my style at all, but I suppose if it is functional, and fits the decor? Why not, right? I'd avoid too much work too. I don't mind working. I just don't like working as hard I used to have to now that I don't have to. lol

@JudyEv I can see where some houses have different decor that would look silly in one place but perfect in others. A log cabin cottage for example.
