Shifting spanner or crescent?

Yesterday we dropped off some artichokes to a family that we haven’t seen for over twenty years. When we first went to Donnybrook, we sold a little pony and cart to these people.
There are a few stories to tell involving them but for the moment here is a photo of one of their horses. The daughter is now heavily involved in riding. The marking on the face reminds me of a crescent or perhaps you know it as a shifting spanner. Another example of how we have different terms for things.

That marking stands out against the brown colour. It looks like melted ice cream (lol)

@allknowing It is natural but each one is different. If your horse gets stolen it's good to know what identifying features it has.

I am not sure what that mark looks like. I wouldn't think of a crscent wrench thogh.

Crescent wrench for my part of Missouri. And yes, it does look sorta like one.
