The New Me (Un-Retired)

So, I posted a couple months ago that I was retired, and was sad about it. Took me a few months to get in the groove. I am now happily reporting that I am un-retired. Because I don't like the word "retired"; it sounds like I'm sitting at home doing nothing. 1. I just finished a bunch of translation projects for the Sakurajima volcano museum. 2. I have a bunch of private flute students. 3. I am on the substitute (supply) teacher list for my old school and starting three weeks ago, I have been in classrooms almost every day, working around my flute student times. It's fun to be a supply/substitute teacher in my school, because it's a K-12 (age 5-18 or so) school, and I taught the younger ones. Now I am getting to be with them as high schoolers! They know me and I know them and so there are very few discipline or disrespect problems. The other fun thing is that the teachers of that classroom do the lesson plans! In the older grades, they are self-motivated and really work hard and individually (or in groups) and all I am doing is being the adult in the room. So I'm finally happy with my life again. I will introduce myself as a music teacher (because I am) so I'm comfortable with that. How are you folks at myLot? I hope the last three months of 2022 are being good to you.

Retired but not tired. It's always good for one to keep busy after retirement. It's good both physical and mental. A former co worker suddenly got ill after retiring because she just stayed home and. now she can hardly walk.

That's so good to hear. Many people say that they are so busy once they retire they don't know how they ever managed to work but most would be talking about other activities. I know what you're doing is all really satisfying and enjoyable for you.

Teaching is just a lot of fun. Work too! But hey, as long as I have the energy I'm going to do it.

It depends on how you think about being retired. To put it in its essence of correct usage. To retire has so several meaning but it doesn't actually imply that you are doing nothing Retired from occupational job is something to be happy about for you're free to do the tedious routine tasks. And you have now the quality time to be with your family and to go to places you want to and if course to enjoy life to its fullest.

Good to know that you have so many activities to keep your life happy, I'm semi-retired. Doesn't mean I'm doing nothing. I do freelance projects and volunteer work.
