Douglas Eck who is a 60 year old retiree who lives in Joppa Maryland used a strange method of buying a 50 cent straight bet on Friday October 14 by playing the numbers of a broken down truck with the odometer stuck at 82466 which came up on his Pick 5 scratch off ticket which matched perfectly. Since the bet was small, the winning prize of $25,000 dollars before taxes will lower the final amount of money he will collect. Douglas who has won similar scratch prizes of $100,000 dollars in 2008 and $50,000 dollars in 1995 playing the same numbers plans to use his lottery prize money to pay off his bills since $25,000 dollars is decent money to pay off some of his debts. Royal Farms which was the store that sold the winning lottery ticket will receive a bonus of $250 dollars as their bonus money from the Maryland Lottery. Douglas decided to show his face when he was seen holding the winning lottery ticket for privacy reasons.

@Nakitakona The big money payouts most likely are rigged. The small payouts are just to keep the players entertained thinking that they could win the huge prize.

@Deepizzaguy Thanks. Any lottery is always a game of chance. Sometimes it's being rigged.

I know some who put numbers on paper and draw from bowls, some who use birth dates, others who use timeline ages in their lives. I've never heard of a broken down old truck for numbers. How unusual and lucky for him.

Good method! Quite a nice prize! Good thing he hid his face! Relatives he never saw before will be knocking at his door.

That is true since I have heard the horror stories of lottery winners mentioning that phony relatives ask them for money.

Who knew that a broken down truck would quit going at just the right moment that it would provide a lottery win someday? Or several. Stranger things really DO happen.

@Deepizzaguy People have used stranger methods as I am aware. People use all sorts of means of trying to pick what they consider to be a lucky set of numbers.

I agree with you that Douglas found a way to win the lottery prize by using a broken odometer reading to win a huge prize.
