Do you remember them?

In my country, we celebrate a milder version of the Day of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd. It’s a public holiday but my siblings thought the cemetery would be crowded so we went there yesterday to visit our father’s grave. We brought flowers, candles and some food and offered some prayers. I got the chance to look around and noticed a grave with a baby bottle and a baby rattle. When I looked more closely at the headstone, it’s of a baby girl who was born last month and passed away recently. My heart constricted a little thinking how painful it was for her parents.
I also noticed some graves with no flowers or candles. I want to think they’ll be visited by their loved ones soon. Then I saw a guy who was walking around who was clearly looking for something. My siblings and my mom also noticed him and we guessed that he couldn’t find his loved one’s grave. Maybe it has been a long time since the last time he visited there?
How about you? When do you visit your loved one’s grave?

My parents' grave is a very long way away. I will make a point to visit if I'm ever in the area again. My grandparents are buried in the Netherlands and I would have to get directions to find them if I ever get to go.

@sol_cee About as pure as a dutchman can be. My mother became a Canadian citizen when she was pregnant with me. That's the reason I don't have dual citizenship. My older siblings all do.

Every All Soul's day we make it a point to visit their grave .But if situations wont let us do it we make sure to light candles in our house and offer some prayers. Specially today we cannot visit there's storm and the way to the cemetery is flooded. We will just light some candles here at home.

I enjoy November 1 since childhood. I like that there are so many people to see. I like that we have a lot of food to eat. I like to collect the melted candles and form them into a ball. I'm glad to see friends in the cemetery. But this year we won't visit the cemetery since it is raining and my sister and I have cough. We will just stay at home this year

The ones with nothing on them maybe have no loved ones left . That is so neat breaking the rattle on the little babies grave. I’m so thankful to have my sweet baby sleeping in my arms.
