Dead mouse

On my computer. It is now in the trash. This is the cheap o mouse that came with my refurbished computer. Periodically in the past it has decided to scroll on its own. And it has presented a little icon that I describe as a "birds' eye", and it keeps popping up a task bar of a sort. Usually I wait it out and in an hour or so it is alright. I did not know it was a mouse problem. I thought it was the settings or an app in Windows 10 because I never had that problem before. It started again last night, and did not right itself. It was still happening this morning. I got frustrated. I wanted to ask on here if anyone knew what the problem was, but it would not let me type. I Googled it on my phone. The first solution was unplug the mouse, and solutions proceeded clear up to trouble shooting t he computer. One solution was to replace the mouse. I have one or two older mice on hand and I did just that. As you can see, I now can type and participate here. What an easy fix!! That cheap, defective mouse is now trash and I can again try to catch up here.

There is a reason I quit using a mouse and just use the touchpad now. It gives more control and fewer problems, in my opinion.

I use the mouse with my tower computer, I used for a while the touchpad when I use my laptop, I finally attached a mouse. I hate the touchpad.

@DaddyEvil The touchpad does not make my finger "feel funny", but I do not like it, I feel that it takes forever to do things using a touchpad.

@LadyDuck Pretty prefers a mouse even with her laptop. She says the touchpad makes her finger "feel funny". It's just a touchpad. Nothing about it makes my finger feel funny.

Oh, I am glad as well. I am having a really slow earnings month and this is making it worse. Plus I need to order Christmas presents.

That's weird. I hope there are no viruses on your comp that caused that.

What I read did not indicate a virus problem, just a mouse that is no longer working well.

@GardenGerty that's reassuring. Viruses too can cause the computer to do weird stuff.

I still get used to use the mouse and it is much more convenient for me. Although the touchpad is OK, but I still like to use the mouse much more. If my mouse doesn't work, I will buy a new one. Anyway, it is not an expensive thing today.

@GardenGerty I am glad to have spare computer parts at home, so I can continue to work even if an accident happens on Sunday (everything closed here on Sundays).

When my computer fried last spring I got a really good deal on a refurbished desk top. I had to provide my own monitor, but it was a sweet deal. I want to check out refurbished laptops next.

The mouse works best for me, and my desktop does not have a touch pad, so it is a mouse or nothing.

Must be frustrating. Glad that it is fixed now. I wonder if we can use "mice" for plural here. Mouses won't be correct either. . I could visualise few extra rodents there

I am not sure if mice is correct when referring to a computer, but we could agree as it is much less awkward than mouses.

I have not used a mouse since touchpads came out. If I have to use someone's computer they really confuse me!
