My Pie Is Embarrassingly Ugly

I have made pumpkin pies since helping mom when I was little. They have always turned out delicious and nice looking. Imagine my surprise to see the worst looking pie I've ever done.
I had a huge pie pan I pressed the dough down inside and pulled the foil out to fold over when the crust was getting too brown.
I have no idea what I did but I sent a photo to my youngest and she was laughing asking, "what did you do??" No way is it going to my son's tomorrow. I told him I will attempt another Thursday morning with the granddaughter's help and then can blame them if it goes wrong again.
I probably couldn't get away with that since their mom bakes with them all the time. Grandma "Noni" is losing her marbles is what they'll say.
I took it out of the pan after cooling, cut into slices and bagged up for the freezer but my daughter said she'll bring the UTV down to get it. They will bravely try it. I had a small sliver and it's actually very tasty. Just looks too embarrassing to take.
Tomorrow afternoon, I'll arrive at my son's in Eastern Washington for a few days. He's making prime rib for Thanksgiving (no one is a turkey fan), and I'm making sugarfree pies since he's on keto, his exwife, who will be there, is bariatric, and I'm attempting low carb. Her new husband will eat anything.
Have you been baking or going to? My oldest daughter told me Safeway has pies on sale so maybe I should go get one.
Have a great evening.

As long as it tastes good, it shouldn't matter how it looks. But I might be embarrassed to serve that one to guests, too. ![](/Content/images/emotes/whistle.gif)
I don't bake pies anymore. If I make them, we would eat them and we don't need the calories. ![](/Content/images/emotes/rofl.gif)

In the end, it is the taste that matters, not how it looks. I bet it tastes great. We don't bake so bought supermarket pumpkin pie. It better be good. It looks good. But looks can be deceiving.

@lovebuglena That's good. I am more about the actual food but a good pie slice is good too.

@noni1959 I wasn't a huge fan of the pie but it wasn't bad.

It is delicious and so looks can be ignored. But still a good looking one would be more tempting. How about serving it in a nice dish and doing something to make it look good before serving. Cutting it into pieces and then serve it.
I will have no heart to let it go waste if it tastes delicious.

@arunima25 That is very true. Once cut, it looked just fine. Did more pies today and they look normal.

@noni1959 That sounds good. Glad that they are relishing it. It's delicious and deserves to be relished. Inner beauty counts more than the physical appearance ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Whoops! They can't all be winners I guess. I was going to suggest whip creaming the edges in a scallop pattern to try to beautify it a bit.

It's a shame your pie didn't come out right but it's good that it tastes okay. Every once in awhile something like that will happen no matter how many times you've done it beforehand.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving and I would rather be having prime rib than turkey

It does look interesting, I must say. Probably a pie with a mind of its own. I hope you have a better luck with the next pie. Only me and the cats here not doing any celebrating,

There's love in that pie. Eat it or go without would be my answer.

A Safeway pie, assures good pie. I too always pardon the turkey,
. How was Thanksgiving and did you go to Safeway?
