Burnt rice!

Burnt rice

I messed up this morning. I usually cook rice while making my morning coffee and it is ready on time. I make rice on the pressure cooker. I usually rinse the rice, put it in the pressure cooker, add one cup water, let it boil a little and then add 5 more cups before I close the cooker and let it cook with the weight. This time, I was looking for the weighted lid as the rice and water boiled and then forgot to add the extra water. I realised it after 5 minutes when I thought the rice was ready - I noticed that the water in the bottle was still unused. What a waste of rice. I'm getting old!!

What a shame! I use a rice steamer for the rice, as the water must be added at the same time as the rice I do not risk to forget.

I have been doing this every morning for years now - first time I've made this mistake.

@pitstop It happens, I make muffins from years and the past week I forgot to add the baking powder to the dough.

I'm not sure if that makes me happy or nervous.

That happens with milk although it has been a while though. Busy on the PC and forgetting what is on the gas (lol)

@pitstop They are. It's a bit normal and doesn't mean anything wrong. I'm aging so convincing myself.

But this one was charred and also quite dry as there was not enough water.

It can easily happen if we are careless at cooking anywhere .

this is the first time i've heard of cooking rice in a pressure cooker. we use the pressure cooker to cook beef dishes. we usually use a rice cooker. if 2 cups of rice, put 3 cups of water (wash the rice first, of course) then press the on or start button. i'm very thankful it was invented because you can focus on other kitchen tasks while it's cooking.
