Hubby said he was steady enough to get down the stairs and out to the car. Are you? I finally called for an ambulence. He slept. Three burly EMTs showed up. Gawked at the house for a second then asked if it was me that needed a ride! Me bent over my cane. No. In the house. Upstairs. By then I'd woken hubby, advised him to get some clothes on and headed out to manage the dogs.
I felt it was worth every penny, having burly EMTs in front and behind hubby on the narrow old wooden steps.
SO......2:30 afternoon until just midnight we were in the E R. Most of that time we waited.
Hubby ended up having high blood sugar levels. Low magneseum and something else. Bladder infection. He was given Ringers so he must have been dehydrated. And a list of docs that have to open their doors to him. The lack of medical care in this county is frightening. He also received an injection of Benadryl to help him with the nausea. I didn't know that Benadryl helped with that.
These days I generally don't drive after 9 pm. So getting us home last night in one piece at midnight was a slow chore. There's a turn off that could have landed us on the freeway, headed to Portland, Oregon. Zero traffic. Thank God. I just missed that total goof.
I hope everyone has a grand pigging out day with family. My cats are fed and medicated. I may get a quick doze then go drag plastic Santa from the shed. I need his silly cheer.

Sitting in the ER isn't a good start to a day, nor a good end to one, either.
Uhm... I'm wondering if a downstairs room wouldn't be better as the bedroom? If there is a downstairs room that would work for that....
I'm glad you made it home okay last night.

@sallypup I have used 2 or 3 times a futon before I decided that it wasn´t for me I sleep at Dixie´s in what used to be her mother´s room with a real bed. The room with the futon has a better TV but I would need a crane to pick me up.

@sallypup I wondered about that when you guys were moving into the house. I'm glad you've got a room that can be a bedroom downstairs.

@DaddyEvil I agree with you totally. We have a downstairs room that is supposed to be my office. I think we goofed when we bought a futon for that room. Probably should have gone with either a day bed or a single bed- would have made my days a whole lot easier. Later we would buy a larger bed if we end up living downstairs totally. Hubby was right when we bought this house. He insisted on having a room upstairs made into a bathroom. Total blessing.

@askme123 Hubby had been getting worse over a period of about a week. Yesterday he started talking quite frankly about dying and well, sleeping without waking up. He had gotten to where he hated to eat. He refused food. Things that had been of interest now made him gag. I did not know how long he could go without real food.

@LindaOhio Sweet you. Hubby sounds stronger this morning. I have been a paid caregiver for people and animals. My busy brain won't quit. I am very tired but okay.

@LindaOHio No. Both of us went home about midnight. My Mom and her angels got us home in one piece. Fur kids are fine.

What an ordeal. That is too bad about the medical care in your area. We should all have good access when needed. So glad you made it back home safely. I hope he is feeling some better today. A smile to you from my home to yours. I hope today is better for both of you.
