A most difficult post

I've only known this for three days and I still can't really wrap my head around it. I had a biopsy almost four weeks ago and my Gynecologist called me to tell me I have breast cancer. Actually, I have two different kinds in the same breast which is extremely rare. Dale and I saw the surgeon who will do the surgery on December 13. Not sure if it will be two lumpectomies or one mastectomy. A lot of questions I have will be hopefully answered that day. He said I may need some radiation, but hopefully not chemo. Thank God. I know radiation can be rough, but I have a horror of chemo. That's about all the information I have right now. We've told the kids and a few friends about it, but I'm just not ready yet to really make it public around here. I do want people praying for me....you can never have too many prayers being said for you...but it's just still so unreal. I consider you all my friends. And I know so many of you have experienced a lot of pain and heartache. I wanted to share this with you. I have nine days to get some things done because after surgery, I don't know how long recovery is. The surgeon doesn't think it has spread which I'm so very grateful for. My best friend in MA had breast cancer two years ago, so I learned a little from her over the past two years. I absolutely trust God through this and I have a wonderful husband and family. And all of y'all. I was reading my Bible, just kind of skipping through the Gospels, needing to read the words that Jesus himself spoke. I was crying, telling God how afraid I am. I opened my eyes, looked down at the Bible and read where Jesus said, "Don't be afraid." If that doesn't tell me God speaks to us, nothing will. It meant the world to me. That's all I have for now. You already know how much I'll appreciate your prayers and well wishes. I'll keep you updated when I can.

I don't know what to say, but stay strong. As hard as that will be, and know I'm silently rooting for you.

@1creekgirl We have a friend in Seattle, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Anita's family was devastated, she was given at the most, six months to live. We all went to our prayer closets, asking for Anita's healing. The survival rate for victims of pancreatic cancer, is 1%. And this was six years ago! In November 2022, Anita was given a clean bill of health:) She's doing beautiful! And now, it's Vicki's turn to receive a miraculous healing from God!

@kobesbuddy What a great example of how God still does miracles! He healed my husband many years ago of Emphysema, so I know first hand how He's with us.

I will pray for you and hold a good thought. That's rotten news, but you will get through it. I would refuse chemo personally, but you have to do what is best for you and your family.

@1creekgirl I don't even know what to say without sounding so cliche. But please know, I mean this with all my heart. I'm so sad to be reading this. My heart goes out to you and I am putting it out there that you will be as brave as you can during this journey. But also know it's totally ok to not feel ok. I wish you to have all the support you need and always speak up when you feel like you need more. (meaning I hope you never feel alone during this time). I'm wishing you ALL the very best and I hope you can update us as much as you possibly can but more than anything, I wish you strength and all the love. You got this! You can do this!

Psalm 121, verses 1 to 3:" l will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber". Try not to be afraid God will take care of you - and he never reneges on his promises. Prayers going up for you.

The one thing I will say Vicki first of all is that they surely can perform miracles these days with this cancer. Now I am not saying it isn't scary..I know you are scared and so would I be. But you, the shining example of a woman of intense and unrelenting exemplary faith ...all I can say is He's got you Vicki and you got this!! Wish I were there now to help out and do all I can, you know I would. Of course you know prayers here for you.

I will be praying for you as you go through this. We have a dear friend who had a double mastectomy in Jan.. She had to do some chemo as this is her second time dealing with cancer. But when she had some of her scans later in the year all of her markers were perfect and she is cancer free.
