Double eruption stops at Hawaii

Khon2 news this evening brings much good news. Mauna loa and Kilauea both have slowed, and now seems to be stopping. Mauna loa erupted 12 days. As each day passed, lava flow came closer and closer to Saddle Road or Daniel K. Inouye Highway, the only broad linking east and west of the Big Island! Other ocean routes would take 3-4 more a day one way!!! Lava flow stopped about 1 and a quarter mile away from Saddle Road. Huge sigh of relief, for the Big Islanders commuting! USGS, United States Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, reports, both on vigilant watch now.

Thank goodness the lava from the volcano has stopped before severe damage would happen in your state.

No danger, for living on Oahu and eruption is on Big Island. The highway lava flow was heading for, main highway. Big Island doesn't have much highways.

Yes, both very scary! Luckily, there's a vigilant volcano watch 24/7. Nature is beautiful and powerful.

Yes. When you see a beautiful waterfall, ladybug or rainbows you just don't feel the impact of tornados or floods.

@oahuwriter That would have been awful if it had blocked the highway.

Yes, super inconvenient for all. Big Island is the biggest Hawaiian island, but very rough. Hilo is east, Kona us western city. Within cities and residency are roads. East & west of Bug Island only connected by Saddle Road, now called Daniel Inouye Highway.

Yes, so close it came to Big Island's only main highway linking beast to west. Living on Oahu, our worry was vog from volcano.

Yes, so close flow came to main & only highway linking east to west of island. Though I live on Oahu, and eruption is on the Big Island, vog was a concern.

I'm glad that it looks like the eruptions are over. Hubs picked up a Claxton Fruitcake for me yesterday; and I had a piece last night. It was very good. Thank you for the recommendation.
