Yesterday's trip to the big Tesco.

We went to the big Tesco again yesterday. First I posted some more Christmas cards for my Mum, then I put the soft plastics in the recycle receptacle. We went up on the lift and the first thing that we did was look for some Christmasy flowers, but they were all too expensive, £10 or even £20. So we got some orangey coloured tulips for £3 a bunch, and we got 2 bunches.
I saw a Cliff Richard Christmas with Cliff magazine that goes with the CD of the same name, so I grabbed that and said to my Mum, You didn't see that. And she said, £10.99? no, I didn't see it! That is going to be part of Mum's Christmas present 2023 (I've already got her this year's Christmas presents!) Then I got an art magazine. After that I got my water and prawn layered salad.
We got all the usual stuff. Mum got a Terry's Chocolate Orange for Christmas, 3 rolls of wrapping paper (she's decided rolls are better because there's more on them!), some Christmas present bags, 1 each for the little nephews and 1 for my brother and sister-in-law to share between them, and some toiletries for my brother and sister-in-law. I got some pens for my step-dad, brother and sister-in-law.
I didn't need any Spring Onions this week because I usually use them on a Sunday and this Sunday it's Christmas day! I got some brown rice and miso because I was running out of those. We saw Nora King again but she didn't stand chatting for long.
My peach yoghurts were out of stock! They've been out of stock for 2 weeks now! It always says on the shelf that the next delivery is due the day after we've been!
I got some vegan pigs in blankets for Christmas day which are called no-hog in duvets! I also got some desert for Christmas which says pack contains 6 servings! I also got a vegan curry ready meal for Friday's dinner.
I got some Macha T-bags and some mixed fruits and nuts. My step-dad wanted vegetable soup and ordinary digestive biscuits.
My Mum had told my step-dad to fetch us at 4:15pm again and it was already 4:10pm, so my Mum said we should hurry up and get the washing stuff that we needed and then go. So I got washing up liquid, silks and delicates liquid, limescale prevention tablets and comfort pure conditioner. Then we hurried to the till to pay.
Then when I'd payed I went to the Tesco book swap and swapped my book and we went down on the lift. By this time it was already 4:35pm! My step-dad was there waiting probably moaning to himself as usual!
When we got home I unpacked the groceries and put them away then had my dinner.
Later on after I'd washed up I was going to get a plate out to thaw my fish on. I saw that my step-dad had put some of the smaller plates inside Mum's old metallic salad dish on top of the plates instead of putting them back properly on the pile of plates. So I went to get the salad dish out to remove the plates and put them properly on the pile of plates. But as I was doing so I knocked out a small porcelain dish which is like a casserole dish but smaller that Mum does the peas in sometimes in the microwave. It landed on the floor and smashed into a million little pieces! My Mum heard the crash and said, Oh, hello. You've broken something haven't you? I got out the dustpan and brush to sweep up the shards. As I was doing this the door bell rang. It was Mum's friend Frances come to fetch her for the House Group Christmas party. I went to the door with my Mum and I said to Frances, "I've had an accident!" And she said, "Oh, no. What's happened?" And I said, "I've broken something!" So she came into the kitchen and I told her what I'd broken. She swept up the rest of the shards and the tiny little bits that you could hardly see because she didn't want me doing it as I was only in my slipper socks.
When she'd finished sweeping up and she thought she'd got all the shards up, she took my Mum off to the house group. She also took Dawn's raised toilet seat for her because we don't need it any more, we've got some others.
When they had gone I put my fish out to thaw and put everything else back in the cupboard properly. Later I put the tulips out. Mum wanted me to take out any of the old flowers that were wilting and then put the new tulips in the middle of the ones that were still OK. I couldn't find many of them that were wilting so I just put the tulips in the middle of them. Later I wrapped the pens that I had bought for my step-dad, brother and sister-in-law. Now all my Christmas presents have been bought and wrapped and I've even got something for my Mum for next year's Christmas! My Mum still has to get something else for my little nephews!
How was your day yesterday?
Have you got all your Christmas presents yet?
I hope you are all well.
Have a nice day.

@sharonelton I’m just too busy so I’ve taken time out to sit in Costa with a most unpleasant cortado.

Busy is good. Why did you have a cortado if you don't like it?

Well, that's good to hear. What have you bought as presents, or can't you say on here? And what are you doing Christmas day? What are you having for Christmas dinner? Are you excited? (Questions, questions, questions!)

It wasn't very pleasant no. The shards went all over the kitchen floor. Mum's friend Frances swept the whole floor up for me looking for the tiniest shard. Some even landed behind the bin by the window and by the recycle bags at the other side of the room.

Hubby went to the food store yesterday. It was packed and they were out of some things. People were shopping for Christmas and in preparation for the big snow storm we are having. We only had two gifts to buy; and they are bought and given. Thank you for the update on your day. You have a nice day too.

@sharonelton I bought gift card and included them in a card. One was for a restaurant that our neighbor loves to go to. She used it already! One was for our housekeeper (my husband's cousin). She likes to use hers at Walmart.

I'm sorry your hubby couldn't get everything you wanted. Yes, I couldn't get sprouts aswell on Friday. I think people must be stocking up for Christmas. When I told my Mum she said, where am I going to get sprouts? We can't have Christmas dinner without sprouts! I said, why not? I don't like sprouts.
I pray the big snow storm doesn't cause too much havoc. I'm glad you managed to get the gifts you wanted, and that they are now given. Did you wrap them up nicely?
My pleasure. I'm glad you enjoyed coming shopping with me. Thank you very much.

Yes, Christmas doings complete. New Years necessities, almost done. Next week more to buy. You had a pretty good day. Dishes do break every now and then. When it does, just means a new one necessary especially if used in microwave.

Well, New Years food for rice cake soup called ozoni, traditional food for New Years Day. I need, mizuna for it. I've got to go to Japanese church to get holy amulets for home and self. Marukai Wholesale Mart will be opened, on New Year day, so I'm hoping to get ready made food like shrimp tempura. There's a stewed vegetables dish, nishime, I'm debating about cooking. It's like stew, great dish for many, but too much leftovers for me. Noodles signify longevity & good luck for new year, shrimp signify long life, I've already got sweet black soy beans and chestnut to assure happiness and good health for new years. I'd like to get sweet grapes for good luck, Italian custom at midnight you devour 12 grapes for good health in each month.

@oahuwriter What is mizuna?
Sounds like you are going to have a good New Year. Do you like cooking? I've heard of nishime but I don't know exactly what it is. I did not know that shrimp signify long life.
Sounds like a good custom!

I'm glad you've got everything ready for Christmas. What are you going to be buying next week? I did have a pretty good day. Except for breaking Mum's pyrex dish! She does have another one and some larger ones, but now she's got a spare lid!

Thank you very much. Yes, I don't like leaving things till the last minute. I can hear my Mum wrapping parcels in the dining room right now at 7:47am! On Christmas Eve.
I posted my Christmas cards on 2nd December. My brother and sister-in-law and the twins will come today to give us our Christmas presents and collect theirs. And then I'll deliver my Mum and step-dad's cards and presents tomorrow morning. I tell Mum she has to go to bed on Christmas Eve so that I can play Santa and put their presents on the settee where Mum sits. Cos you see if Mum hasn't gone to bed and she's still sitting there I'd have to plonk the presents in her lap and that's not a good look!
