Gifts for a musician

We will be having Christmas at our niece’s place and staying the night there. We thought it would be nice to give her a small gift although we wouldn’t normally, mainly because we don’t often see her at Christmas. She is very musical and I found these three little items in amongst my treasures. There is a notebook with a musical heading, a cross-stitched bookmark and a coffee mug with A-Z of musical definitions on it. I’ll share the best of these in another discussion. Tomorrow, we have to prepare three salads, a trifle and some cheese and bacon strips to take on Christmas day. In case you’re not here tomorrow, I’ll take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

I'm glad you're able to spend Christmas with your niece and that you're thinking of getting her a small gift. It sounds like you've found some creative and thoughtful items that she will appreciate, especially given her love of music. It's always nice to show our loved ones that we care, especially during the holiday season. I'm sure your salads, trifle, and cheese and bacon strips will be a hit at your Christmas celebration. It was actually given to me many years ago so I don't have a pattern for it. I hope you're able to chart it or find a pattern or whatever.

@JudyEv I am waiting until tomorrow afternoon then chatting with both kids. It will mostly be up to my son as he will have the little one with him. But I want step daughter safe too. Just she could take more than Monster of this cold

@JudyEv I find a bookmark to be a very acceptable gift. I’ve always got a number of books on the go at once and am looking for things with which to mark my place. Bookmarks are inexpensive and inoffensive. If you can’t buy me whiskey make me a bookmark. Even unattractive bookmarks are acceptable because you don’t need to look at them. And it’s much better that folding over a page. I do hope your niece enjoys her bookmark and that you and Vince have a lovely Christmas.

@JudyEv Thanks. We had someone plow; and his son shoveled the walk and porch. We had a two-foot drift on the porch. Hubs went out yesterday and said that the roads are still not good...maybe by today. Merry Christmas!

A trifle has Swiss roll or sponge cake set in jelly and topped with thick custard. This one will also have peach slices in it. It will also have three different coloured jellies and is in a glass bowl so you can see the different colours.
