Christmas cafés.

The days coming up to Christmas are a great time to sit in cafes because they’re all devoid of customers. People are so pre-occupied with shopping that they skip the cafes and for that reason alone I wish it could be Christmas every day.
However this cafe in which I’ve installed myself looks a bit like a wasteland, with depleted trays of pastries and tired, bored-looking staff wearing droopy reindeer antlers. I’m tempted to enquire as to the connection that links antlers to the incarnation that we are meant to be celebrating but that would be a lost cause.
Even the coffee is tired and lack-lustre.
Ah well.

I have never developed the habit of sitting in a cafe - unless my wife and I are out shopping and we've popped in for a 15-minute coffee and toilet break. You're right - what have antlers to do with Christmas unless it's a reference to Rudolph pulling Santa's sleigh?

It is really cold here today...30's, but that's cold for us. Plus the wind was horrid. Hopefully you'll enjoy a cozier cafe soon. We enjoyed a hot bowl of veggie soup that a friend made for us for lunch today.
