They have all disappeared

So many have disappeared and among them are Gerbera. The only way a Gerbera can be made to last is if they are re-potted which apparently was not done and this accompanied by erratic weather caused it all.
I have no intention to get back what we have lost but take care of those that need little or no maintenance.
For me it is the matter of 'survival of the fittest as there is no guarantee that nature will co-operate.
What say?.

I really love gerberas we in the family usually call them Daisies although I know it's not the right name for them. We plant them in an open area and they just spread on their own in our lot when I was young. But our gerberas are not as dark as the one in the picture we usually have the light colored ones and white ones.

They get suckers but we had them in pots and so restricted Gerbera come in several colours. We also had them in red and yellow.

@allknowing I also recall the yellow ones. They were the pale orange ones when I was a child, and I believe they are fairly typical. Although I can now observe in many malls that is being offered that way, such dark hues are uncommon in our area.

@rsa101 There is no explanation I suppose why you do not have the darker colours.

I do not think you will find it difficult as the flower you know stands out.

@allknowing There was a time I confused some margarita with gerberas. I know now that the leaves are different. (unless I am still confusing them somehow .)

We have to plant those from seed each year as winter is too cold for them

very clear photo in my eyes. I was amazed to see flowers that were rosy red compared to flowers in my area.

@suwardie03 No. It is perennial but you have to re-pot them.
