Today they discovered that my sister has no bowel sounds. This is not a good thing.
When I was visiting at the hospital today the nurse said they would try to get it to pass naturally.
About a half hour ago my sister called and they were taking her into emergency surgery, because if left untreated her bowel would die.
I am the "communication hub" for our family and her friends, so I have been busy with her daughters, granddaughter, friends,my brother, my friends, my daughter, my pastor, etc.
I also felt like the information needed to be checked, because sometimes she makes mistakes. Her daughter called the hospital and yes, she is in surgery now.
The daughters will keep me posted. I know the oldest one will be there. She is only a half hour from there. Other one is four hours away.
I need to be here for Bob, and at work for my student.
I may not be here much at all, we shall see.

She passed, not from the surgery but from the overwhelming poor condition throughout her body.

The surgery went okay but her body was just dying piece by piece. She passed away about ten days later.

Yes, it is bad news. She had arterial plaque that had blocked circulation to her bowel. Even after the surgery more of the bowel was dying, her lungs were not getting circulation and neither was her brain. There were signs she had had a stroke as well.

Both the surgery and then the final repair two days later went okay, but she was worn out and did not recover.

@GardenGerty I’m so sorry. That’s what happened to my husband after the car wreck. He was too tired and weak to hold on any longer.

No it was not good. She had made poor lifestyle choices that resulted in a lot of plaque, not just in her bowel, but her lungs, her brain, etc. She could not recover.

What went wrong is that she smoked for over sixty years, and did not eat well, or exercise. Plaque in her arteries throughout her body was slowly closing off all circulation. She was not able to recover.
