Pretty items at our house-sit

Here is a collage of some of the antique items which are in our latest house-sit. There is an inscription on the clock but I haven’t been able to read it yet. I’m a bit nervous about lifting it up. The jug is very pretty too. We walked Russell last night. He wasn’t as energetic as usual but perhaps the hot weather is affecting him a little. We got three eggs from the hens and filled the cat’s bowl. Apparently Russell likes eggs so we might give him a couple today. We brought our own eggs with us and there are about four dozen in a fridge so, as the saying goes, they are coming out our ears at the moment.

I love the antique clock. It’s a beauty. At least you’ll have plenty of eggs to eat.

Very pretty. Does the clock work? I'm thinking it chimes every quarter hour.

It doesn't work unfortunately. It was awarded to the deceased owner but I can't read the inscription.

The number will be inside the lid so I'd need to shift the lamps.

Such cute items here. I love the boy and girl on the top shelf. I have never heard of giving animals fresh raw eggs. I really enjoy fresh eggs.

@jstory07 I used to feed my pony eggs as it was supposed to make his coat shiny. I'd dampen his chaff and mix an egg in it.

I really like that clock. The doily under it reminds me of some of the ones my Aunt used to send to mom back in the 1970s

I don't know where the two bottles would have come from. The lamp is very ornate. The ones we had weren't as fancy.

@JudyEv It’s lovely staying in a lived-in home with plenty of personal Knick knacks in. I stay in a lot of airbnbs and some are like that (the most recent in Paris was like that) but so many are just sterile - spotlessly clean with no nasties hidden by well-places pictures on the wall or throws over the sofa - but sterile. There’s nothing so disheartening as a bookcase with no books, a mantlepiece with no ornaments.

I quite agree with you. The ones we been in have dozens and dozens of knick-knacks and usually a great number of books too. The one in Ireland might be a bit different as the owners don't live there. It's an airBnb so may not have many bits and pieces.

I love the pink lamp. You are cooking the eggs before you give them to Russell pup? When I had hens and also lived with Rufus the rascal I only gave him cooked eggs cause he easily wanted to go help himself to fresh eggs and hens if I let him, I didn't want him getting a taste.

We give Russell raw eggs but the owners do too so it's okay. The hens are in a secure pen.

What a lovely assortment of antiques. I am sure the heat has Russell's energy lower than normal. Mike's Mom, Daisy, is always a little slower in the heat.

@JudyEv Eggs seem good for almost all animals... and they wanted to make us believe they were not good for humans.
