A Bartender's Special Touch

Once when l stayed at a hotel in the tourist area, the bartender made me what he called - a blended fruit punch.
It was so very delicious that l asked him if he would tell me the ingredients.
He did and when l got home l tried making it myself but it simply did not taste the same.
I couldn't help wondering if he had given me all the ingredients or left something out on purpose.
Or what was missing could have been a bartender's special touch.
Do you have a favorite cool drink? Have you ever tried mixing drinks yourself.

I can't imagine what went wrong.
I had a cocktail at a special event held at my favorite store. It was so good - and beautiful with a purple orchid in it, that I chased down the manager. The manager led me to the event manager, who led me to the bartender. They were only too happy to send me the recipe. It was perfect, except that I had no purple orchids for it. lol

@DianneN what goes in it? I loved the Moscow Mule at PF CHangs. I started making them here, but none have been as good as that one was.

I had a super delicious non alcohlic smoothie sort of drink at the Bahama Breeze restaurant once. It had mango, guava and something else in it. I forgot what. It was probably the best drink I ever had. I should see if there is one of those restaurants in the the Richmond area. It might not taste the same though...The one I was at was about an hour and a half north of here and the traffic is always bad up there.

@Kandae11 Really,,,? Paw, Paw now that is different. They can grow that around here, and further North..I didn't think of that as a tropical fruit. I wonder if it is the same thing.

It has to be the bartender's special touch. A pina colada in Cuba is a heck of a lot better than in Saint Lucia. Especially when you have a bartender who pours the rum in, looks at the bottle and sees there's only "a bit" left and pours the rest in. Knocked me on my kiester, that one.
In Cuba they add special touches like chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
P.S. I have vowed never to drink again.

I wonder if he left out an ingredient but sometimes I find that nothing tastes as good when I make it myself.

I sometimes try to "invent" drinks. Recently, I had some leftover Scotch, so I made a "hot Scotch toddy," even if it wasn't. I added boiling water, brown sugar, and a hint of blood orange, to a finger of Scotch. Then I put a small pat of butter on top. It was a actually quite good on a cool Winter night.

You should try looking the drink up online and see if you can find a recipe for it. Maybe you just didn’t put enough of one ingredient in but it’s possible he kept one ingredient a secret to get you coming back to buy the drink there instead of making it at home.

I have many favorites, but I am limited on what I can drink. That sounds a lovely treat Kandase.

I like margaritas. Yes, my husband and I have made it at home with the blender.

I wanted to be a bartender before and go to mixology school. There is probably a trick in the amount of each ingredient or a special syrup or something. There's definitely a secret step. Shirley temples are always my favorite.

My favorite cool drink is iced tea. I have prepared drinks like milkshakes at home and fruit juices like oranges and apples. I think they taste average

One of my favorite drinks of choice is a brandy old fashioned, and no matter where I go, it is never exactly the same. Some are really good, some are particularly bad. Mine at home have never tasted like any I have had anywhere else. There is indeed a touch to what one does over another to make their version their own.
Not unlike ghost stories, you know, that have been told millions of times that depending on who is telling it, makes the story their very own.
