A lovely day and lunch out

It's so sunny and beautiful here, a little cool, but Dale and I drove to a restaurant buffet about thirty miles from here for lunch.
It's southern home cooking and the tomato pudding is my favorite dish. They also had bbq pork ribs, hushpuppies, cabbage, fried herring, peach cobbler, and several other dishes.
It was delicious, although some foods don't taste too good to me. And of course I wore a mask.
I'm trying to stay out of crowds now. I sure don't want to catch anything that would postpone my surgery Feb 3. So many people around here are getting covid again.
My niece has it for the second time and her only symptom was heartburn. Isn't that strange?
Anyway, Dale drove around the small town of the restaurant and took a few detours just to see the scenery. Nothing so exciting, but I enjoyed it.
Hope you guys are having a great Friday.

@1creekgirl It is the same here, the flu cases were more than the Covid cases, but from the past week the deaths for Covid are back.

For a while flu cases were everywhere, now we're seeing so much covid again.

I'm having a great day. So far so good in my opinion. I know things could always be worse, but I'm thankful they aren't.

@1creekgirl I have several disabilities. When they would get me down, my mom would always say, someone's going to have to have it better and someone will always have it worse. Basically be grateful for what you have and where you are now. I hate being a blind cripple sometimes, but I wouldn't change it if I could.

That's a good way to look at life. I hate that I have cancer, but I see ways that God has been involved.

I finally got Dale to try a bite, but he didn't like it. I love it and I know it sounds weird.

Tomatoes and sugar do sound incompatible, but I love it. I think people either love it or hate it, no middle ground.

@1creekgirl I've heard of having sugar on tomatoes and salt on watermelon but I haven't tried either.

I'm glad you and Dale were able to get out and enjoy a nice lunch. From my experience, it is nice to do some normal things in the midst of all the appointments, scans, and hospital stays. Continued prayers for you.
We had a couple at church who tested positive. This time she was sicker than he and both were more sinus issues. Last time, both suffered from stomach issues, couldn't taste and had sinus issues.

I'm sorry about your friends. This latest strain of covid seems a lot different, doesn't it? I pray they'll recover and that you and Mike will stay well.

@1creekgirl They are both better now and were able to come back to church Wednesday. They missed a couple of weeks. Thankful they are better.

That is nice that the two of you took some time just for yourselves.
Those days make for the sweetest memories.
We cannot eat out during the cold weather as we do not trust the hvac systems that places have, and the germs circulating. We are having take out from a Chinese place not far from here.

@1creekgirl For the most part I am over it, thanks for asking. Sometimes my lungs still ache when I go outside if I am walking too fast.

@1creekgirl I’ve had and made stewed tomatoes that look like it. Does the pudding have bread in it ? I just looked it up and it’s the same thing. I just call it stewed tomatoes. I put cubed bread in mine. I haven’t had it in ages. I think that I’ll call it pudding from now in.

Breaded tomatoes, does that ever sound delicious! Jay ordered a pizza yesterday, so we might have that warmed up, for supper:) There are still some chicken enchiladas in the refrigerator, maybe those instead:)

I hope you are feeling well. I will be thinking of you and praying for you on the 3rd. I'm glad you got out and had a nice lunch. That is very strange about the heartburn.

It's a love it or hate it kind of dish, lol. My aunt used to make it when I was little and it's rarely found around here. But that restaurant makes it really yummy. It has pureed tomatoes, bread, sugar and not sure what else. Maybe you'll get to try it some day.

I love those stewed tomatoes with bread. There was a delicious buffet in these parts...a Covid casualty that used to have them. Yes, wear your mask getting Covid would be just what you don't need!
