In every Chinatown, Chinese New Year is celebrated around this time. In the past, I used to visit my city’s Chinatown to check on the fanfare. It’s pretty colourful, red and gold are the dominant colors for decorations, Chinese lanterns, parasols, buntings adorn shops and restaurants. Dragon parades and dances pop out every now and then with loud festive sounds and energetic ‘dancing of the dragons’. Some people dress up in Chinese costumes. Most people will be celebrating with food and exchange of gifts. I like joining cultural events like this. It maybe noisy, but the noise is infectious and I feel like celebrating as well. Is there a Chinatown at your place, have you attended a Chinese New Year celebration in your city?

No, there is not a Chinatown here, but I prepared a Chinese dinner to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I was born in the year of the rabbit, it was metal rabbit, while this year is a water rabbit.

That’s nice, Anna. It’s your year of the rabbit. That’s new to me, that there’s a metal, wood, etc. for the animals., I cooked some noodles for our dinner. I also went oit with my Asian friends to eat some chinese food for lunch to celebrate.

Yes, Judy. When the kids were still loving with us, we watched the celebration in Brisbane, where fireworks were featured as a culmination of tue event.
