...Landlord period! I became upset because she gave me the electric bill so late. She neglected to hand over the electric payment last month (December 2022). Now, I have to pay the current month's charge, the arrears, and the penalty (January 2023). Later, I need to speak with her about this. However, she appeared to be hiding.
What are your thoughts on this issue?

The late fees are THEIR fault, why are you on the hook for that?
I put my bills on auto-pay in case something gets lost in the mail or a website goes down at the worst time

@Methodless I wish I could do that. Unfortunately, the bill is named after her. So, I need to deal with her later.

@Shavkat She may hide for awhile. I don't blame you though.

@popciclecold I saw her this afternoon. It is a complicated situation because she claimed that the electric's company's worker did not give the bill for December last year.

In fairness, your landlord should pay the penalty since she was the one who caused it. Negotiate with her, and make her deduct your next rent payment. (I once negotiated that way - but that time, it was our real estate agent who caused a loss of $400. I made her office pay that amount successfully. A few months after that, I took the property away from her office!)

That is definitely not fair to you. I would speak with her about it, and ask her to pay some of the charges, i she will not, I would be looking for another place to live.

I would like someone to hide the electricity bills for me too, so that I don't have to pay them.
