No idea why they are called spring rolls

I make spring rolls now and then and I like them I prepare the chicken mince filling and roll it in pancakes The pancakes that I make are of white flour (Maida) as pancakes made from any other flour will not hold the stuffing The one in the image are ready for frying.
The stuffed pancakes are then rolled in the beaten egg and dusted with corn flour and deep fried. Eating them with a dash of ketch up gives them a good taste.
Why they are called spring rolls is what I want to ask.

@allknowing Usually they are food for the breakfast. The portion is not so much but there are many kinds of them. Enclosed please see the photo and there are some dim-sums inside.

No idea either, I've always known them to be that way, and after finding this Wikipedia link on them, I learned a lot about global history. I am aware that they have Chinese roots and that regional variances in their production arise.

@allknowing And they are usually served during that period of the season. I didn't know that it has spread around the world and they are called different from country to country although their Chinese origins exist in every country.

Thank you for the link. It explains why it is called so as they are supposed to be filled with fresh vegetable stuffing available in spring but that is history now (lol)

For what I have heard they are called spring rolls because they used to be a seasonal food usually consumed in spring. Now they are served all the year round, usually part of the "dim-sums".
I make them but I serve with soy sauce or Sriracha not ketchup.
