Stuffy nose

I had a horrible night, when I have a stuffy nose I keep waking up because I can't breathe through my mouth for long. I get a dry mouth and a light sore throat when I breathe through my mouth. I used a nose spray and even washed it with seawater to see if I could sleep better, but nothing worked. During the day the spray works and I even breathe through my nose, but as soon as I lie down it feels like I have a cork in each nostril. This morning I went to the pharmacy and they gave me pills to clear my nose, I had one already, hope it works I've been like this since Monday and I'm starting to have headaches from sleeping so badly. Do you have any tricks to help you when you have a stuffy nose? Picture from google.

@nela13 But this time is it worse..it seems so..well, if that does not help, maybe you have a sinus infection

I get in as hot a shower as I can and suck water up my nose and spit out what ends up in my mouth. I keep doing that until nothing but water is coming out. I do that with both nostrils. Doctors call that "flushing the sinuses". It helps for several hours before I either flush my sinuses again or use a nasal spray... Decongestant pills work for me but only for about an hour before I start feeling blocked again. I hope you feel better really soon.

@nela13 Saltwater burns my sinuses. Plain water works better for me. I hope the flush and the decongestant pills help.

The same thing is happening to me right now. During the day I can breathe fine, but at night I am completely congested. Like you, I struggle to breathe through my mouth and usually wake up with a minor sore throat. I need to start taking some allergy medicine.

Do you have a vaporizer or humidifier to help keep the air from becoming too dry? I hope you feel relief soon.

It is so hard to sleep at night when sick. I sleep with my mouth closed and when my nose is all stuffed up I can’t and like you my throat gets dry and I can’t sleep. I’m thankful I don’t get sick very often.

@nela13 I hope you had a better night. I am having weird dreams recently. The past night in my dream I had been bit by a vampire and "Prince Williams" () was telling me that the Vampire wanted a necklace containing a relik. I would like so much to turn off my brain at night.

So sorry about your awful night’s sleep. Vicks, a humidifier, hot chicken soup, and propping the pillows up helped me.

@nela13 I really hope you feel better soon! I really hate that feeling. For me, I like to boil water, put a towel over my head and try breathe in the steam. I also give my sinus points a massage to try break it all up. I have even put a back massager on my sinus points and kept it there until my nose was literally draining. It was gross but so satisfying. Wishing you all the very best!

@nela13 There are so many YouTube videos out there that can guide you how to do it if you're interested. There are Drs explaining where to massage and how to give yourself some relief. Hoping you continue to feel better.

O yes. I put water in a pot and pour in sea salt, and let the water boil. I take it off the stove and put my head over a bowl of hot water and cover my head with a towel and breathe deeply through my nose until the airways clear.

I hope you get well soon. In the past when I would have a stuffy nose I would sleep in my recliner, for some reason laying down made my stuffy nose worse.

I don't have any solution for a stuffy nose and that's my biggest complain when it happens to me....can't sleep with my mouth open. I hope you find a remedy that works because I can sympathize with how horrible it is trying to sleep.
