What's the first thing that you do upon waking up in the morning?

February 5, 2023 5:35pm CST
It's a Monday morning here in the Philippines Woke up feeling refreshed for the first time in a long time. It's definitely the week-long vacation that I got from all the craziness of my major rotations at the hospital. Usually, once I've woken up, it's my brain automatically stressing over how to survive the day ahead hahahaha But today, it's worry-free grabbing of coffee and opening my laptop to post this. What's the first thing that you do in the morning?

Usually lie in bed for about half an hour before I use the restroom and start my day.

@083196ryza I've never been able to just roll out of bed. I've always accounted for this.

I make coffee in the kitchen then I usually just wait for it to kick in before getting to work.

I have coffee after I clean the floors. I use a microfiber mop so it doesn't take too long.

I guess most people would be checking their phone. Are you a nurse? How many hours do your shifts usually last?

@083196ryza You have an interesting but difficult job. My husband is trying to get to the bottom of why he has been so sick for months now. Something in his digestive tract is really not doing its job.

I'm a medical intern. Our shifts can go on for 24 hours (sometimes more), unfortunately. So, it's almost always a rush to get ready in the morning.

@sallypup So sorry to hear that. Has he consulted with a healthcare professional yet? Hopefully, it's treatable and he feels better soon.

In the morning, it's just prayer and then the rest follows

@083196ryza and read some scripture what do you think about that
7 Feb 23
@thebos I think it's great! Scripture is a good guide towards the right path, and we need a reminder of it everyday.

A prayer is the most wonderful way to start your day.

These days, I've noticed that I do upon waking up would be to reach for my phone and see what time it is. Then shove it back when the time is still too early or try to get up if I need to already. When I get out of our room, I scan the place (we live in a small space at the moment) to see if cleaning needs to be done as we have some pets that can often make a mess over the evening while we sleep. From contents of the trash bin all over the floor to chewed slippers, one really needs to be careful where to step while moving about.

Easy. I ran to the bathroom. Only then I can do the rest. Turn off the alarm, make my first coffee look around for inspiration about what to do, open the glass door to greet and pet Luna.

Nice. I love how you have to go to the bathroom first before turning the alarm off hahaha

Probably pretty much the same as everyone else--stay in bed about 5 minutes more, get up and use the restroom, wash up, have coffee. The coffee being the most important part of the getting up thing!

I get up, get dressed and look at the list that I have written the night before of what I need to do. Then I pray, and start teaching. Most of the time I teach online so I boot up the computer. I usually have my cup of coffee on the desk and sip as I teach.

I lean over to pet my dog who is lying next to my bed in her doggie bed...but I do this as I am on the way to use the restroom! I always have to visit that room first thing every morning!
