Late yesterday evening, I noticed the house was getting colder. I looked and the heaters pilot light was out. So, I tried to relight it but it wasn't happening. I realized we were out of Butane. Didn't think about the price of gas. But luckily we have electric heaters in each room. It's Sunday, so first thing in the morning, I'll call the gas company. Sure glad the electricity didn't go off. What a mess.

Oh, wow! I'm glad you have electric heaters! It might be okay for today but I bet it will get cold overnight.

I dread winter because I must buy extra gas for the heaters. Winter clearly is not for a retired person

@popciclecold I usually take my vacations during my winter. Part of what I save in gas goes for the trip.

There was a time I remember when the only heating in the house was a single fireplace. I don't remember feeling cold but I think in those days long gone we dressed for warmth. Now we expect to stay reasonably warm and to have electricity at the touch of a switch. Our electricity went off while the snow was deep outside, we had to hunt for candles and matches, nothing to hand for an emergency. Fortunately it was back within a couple of hours.

I am glad I do not have to refill gas. It is natural gas through a line. If I did not have gas I would be pulling out the space heaters. I wonder which is cheaper now. Used to be it was gas, but seems not so anymore.

At least you had electricity in your house. Here, we have two choices for gas; natural gas or delivered gas in a tank. At home, we use a tank. We have to buy a tank of gas in advance so as not to run out of gas at home
