We had a tiring day yesterday finishing the brick-paving at a friend’s house. It was quite hot for most of the day but we stopped from time to time and finished mid-afternoon. We followed Vince’s brother home and helped him unload the gear. Then it was time for a very welcome shower and a change of clothes. We bought pizza for tea and shared a bottle of wine. Surprisingly, we’re not too stiff this morning which is a good thing.
We can rest up today and there isn’t much on for next week so we can relax and enjoy a few quiet days.
The photo was taken after we left. The wife put up this photo on her Facebook page. They are quite excited now about replanting the garden round the little sitting area. In the foreground is the path which we laid before Christmas.

I'm glad the project is finally finished and I'm sure your friends are happy with it, too. (The work does look amazing!)
I'm honestly surprised you aren't both really sore, though. I know I would be.

@JudyEv I would have thought your backs would be sore, too. I'm glad you weren't in THAT much pain, though.

@DaddyEvil Vince has been going to a chiropractor lately. He was really pleased with the way his back held up.

You finally got it done ! You did a great job on the brick-paving .You must have made the ground be completely even before laying the bricks.

Thanks. Yes, a lot of the time was spent preparing the area to get it completely flat but with a very slight slope to drain off any water. You can see Gerard using a spirit level to get the slope correct. The area is compacted sand and ready for the bricks.

Most of our other work has been for each other or other family members and that was all satisfying too but this was a bit special. The whole yard is now even and, in a wheelchair or with crutches/sticks, the guy can now get around so much easier. I think we're just as pleased as they are with how it turned out.
