Have you ever tried to revamp a piece of furniture?

I was going to repaint an old cabinet today after breakfast but I had to deal with something more urgent and it's now too hot to go to the shed and find the leftover paints. I didn't like the door handles that came with the cabinet so I ordered new ones online and opted for knobs this time (the ones in the photo above). They say knobs are out of style, but I like the design and finish on these. The cabinet was used to store my mother's ornaments in the living room but we badly need a sideboard in the kitchen so it's going there this time. I'm hoping there won't be any interruptions tomorrow so I can cross this one off my to-do list.

I have refinished many furniture pieces in my lifetime. I think it's soothing, and it gives you a sense of accomplishment. Plus, you can sort of put your stamp on it and make it your own that way. I wish you the best with your project.

Thank you, Marie. I find it very satisfying. My first attempt took hours, I thought it would take me days. I actually wish I could build the furniture myself.

Oh that's nice. Have you tried selling the ones you've done before? I've been considering getting a sanding machine. I'm not sure how much it will cost but it'll make the job a lot easier for sure.

@MGjhaud I thought it was fun, and soothing. During the pandemic, I refinished 2 vintage nightstands, they were complicated as the wood was curved. Took me awhile, but they look good.

No, I just buy a new piece of furniture if something happens to a piece I already own. Good luck getting the cabinet redone.

Thanks, @DaddyEvil. I'm hoping the paint color I chose matches the rest of the room.

I would love to engage in such activities but my limited mobility won't allow it. Also to revamp one needs paints nuts bolts and whatnot. I also don't have any company as a friend to share the work with. I just appreciate it when someone put their creativity to good use. The knobs look so sleek and so stylish.

My mobility is also not the best. I will have to do it inside the house so I don't have to move it and then deal with the mess afterwards. Thank you for your nice comment about the knobs, they're a little heavier for a knob.

I haven't done that before. I just take the furniture just like the way it is

I wish there were more furniture stores nearby. We don't have many options here so whenever I go shopping, I sometimes end up repainting or repurposing it.

@MGjhaud perhaps because you love art, you can sense the matching between the items

I like those too. Will you maybe let us see it when you finish it? It sounds like something I would like to do.

I'll write about it in a post. I'd like to try out some different colors first and I'm hoping to finish it this week.

My mom had a really nice round coffee table that had been painted black, With time as I grew up the table got shabbier and shabbier finally I took paint to it and it looked like new again, Best of luck to you with that cabinet.

I like those knobs and feel knobs can make or break the look of a cabinet. Hubs has refinished a couple of antiques. I just dust them

We had our doors painted chocolate brown, which I'm not crazy about and I've been thinking about doing that next.

That is something I occasionally consider as well instead of dealing with the cleaning and all.
