Coffee is Coffee In the Porwest House

We are not coffee snobs. I am fine with something like Beaumont that we get from Aldi. Chase and Sandborn we get from Menards. Or Kroger's very own we get at Ruler Foods.
And that's saying something considering I only drink my coffee black. My wife is the one that loads her cup up with things like creamers and whatever else she puts in there.
We do not require top of the line.
Sometimes we might spring for Folgers or Maxwell House. From time to time I will get a bag of Seattle's Best which I really like.
We only do the pods really in the camper. Just way too expensive.
I use five tablespoons to a full pot no matter which brand I use. That's for a 12-cup pot.
The average price I pay for a can of coffee? About $7 and it is always just fine. To me, as much as I love my coffee, coffee is coffee. It's just not worth the added expense. And so long as it tastes good and is fine? What do I care?
How are you about your coffee? Are you a coffee snob? Do you pay more for things you like? Or do you just find the best bang for your buck?

Your cheapness continues to amaze me. Attn: @moffittjc
Since when is Folgers considered expensive? You are nuts. Folgers is cheap grocery store coffee.
I'm not a coffee snob. I have a Keurig these days and use dark roast K-cups from Green Mountain Coffee for coffee on the few days that I want it. I'm a fan of dark roast.

I have found that between cheap and expensive coffee there is no real notable difference in quality or taste. What do you think they do, grow the beans differently? This one's a Folger's bean and this one's a Seattle's Best bean. Give me a break. Granted, there are different strains and qualities and varieties and roasting methods and so on and so forth. But really what separates one from the other and money from your wallet is how it is marketed.

@moffittjc Enjoy your mud. I'd need a spoon to drink that.

Hubs always buys me Folger's Instant Coffee. We get a bzillion cups out of each jar. I've never tried any generic brands. I'm sure they're OK too.

@LindaOHio I used to buy it by the square foot, and that led us to some very cheap paper. We got tired of bits sticking around. lol

@porwest Wow that is quite cheap these days. I remember the small can of Folgers I think it was for 1.79.

@RebeccasFarm Cheaper than some for sure. I priced Beaumont at Aldi when I was there today and it was $5.19. The only reason I didn't get a can was because I have one up now and one still left downstairs in the overflow.

@porwest I can do two iced coffees or cold brews a day, but it messes with my medication a lot

I just stick to my favourite brand which is Kenco. I never go to coffee shops , although there are plenty to choose from here, because they are too expensive.

I really don't care what brand my coffee is as long as it's coffee. I usually buy store branded because yes, it's cheaper. I don't buy the Kcups even though that is what I have in my house since I'm the only coffee drinker. I do get the chocolate and so on kcups for the kids for there warm drinks they like in the winter. I use a refillable Kcup and buy whatever grounds like I said store brand. My mom gave me this week kcups of coffee for me that she go on sale. So I'll be using those first till they are gone and go back to my grounds.
I also put two small scoops of sugar and then I pour a splash of vanilla creamer.

@porwest Yes I got hot chocolate K cups for the kids for the winter and Apple Cider ones as well some times they just like to use the hot water from it to make mint tea which is also find with me. I tent to use my refill about ground cups so I' not buying K cups all of the time.

Same here for me. To me coffee is coffee and while there are some that are bolder or richer, essentially they all taste mostly the same to me. So, I don't tend to spend a lot of money on it. We do keep some K-Cups in the house, mostly for flavored coffees which I don't like but my wife does, and some hot chocolate cups.
Our coffee pot is a dual one with a carafe on the left and pods on the right.
As for my personal taste when it comes to coffee, I always have it black and never put anything in it. My wife, on the other hand, has coffee with her creamer. lol

@ShyBear88 Yeah, if you have one of those refill things and can use regular coffee, you definitely save money even if you technically still use more grounds. But it is definitely more economical than buying the actual pods.

I don’t drink coffee (why do you think they threw me out of the Navy? ). I drink tea, and I’m hardly a “tea snob.” Having said that, I have a cabinet full of flavored teas.

@porwest — I took a swig of JP5 water out of the scuttlebutt when my brother’s friend showed me around the JFK. I’ve been regular ever since.

We have a coffee maker that grinds and brews the coffee from whole beans. I love the fresh ground taste.

I really don't have a preferred brand when it comes to coffee. I will drink pretty much anything and usually just drink whatever is cheapest when it's on my list to replace a can. I always keep 1 can up and 1 can down so I am not forced to pay anymore than I want to pay and whoever has the cheapest. It might take me two weeks to finally find one at the right price.

The Aldi Barissimo Coffee is really good. I love the Midnight Blend--it's a dark roast, which is my favorite. It's been $3.79 lately, which for coffee is a steal.

@MarieCoyle Is Barissmo in a full can, say 30 ounces or more or is it smaller?

@porwest it was cheaper than the Beaumont—and it tastes really good! Beaumont is ok but this is better. And no, I don’t drink instant coffee. I am a snob about instant, just not my favorite.

I thought of this late last night when I was fixing my coffeemaker for today--if you go to Costco, the Kirkland brand of coffee is made by Starbuck's. We stumbled on it by accident, and the price is very good--2 and a half pounds for $12.99 I don't go there as often as I used to, I go with my daughter as she has a card. Just another idea if you ever go there to shop.

We had a membership to Costco for a short while. I liked it better than Sam's Club for the wider variety of generic, store branded items. But it's just too far away to be practical. If there was one closer, I would probably reconsider my membership.

@MarieCoyle I still find some pretty good deals and that was part of the reason as well. I was just typically finding better deals, so the list of things I could get there cheaper just got smaller and smaller.

I understand. We got a new Costco right before the pandemic, it's so much better than our Sam's Club. But I understand about distance not being practical.

Many people like to drink coffee, and even they pursue some high-quality homemade coffee. I have tried to drink coffee, and my experience is that it makes my stomach uncomfortable and easy to feel hungry

I don't drink coffee, but I like the smell of it. I did try to drink black coffee two years ago when I discovered it's good for your liver. But I couldn't stand the taste of it so I decided to just to stick with tea. My mother loves coffee. She got a Keurig and she likes Green Mountain or Peet's.

I really like to drink coffee, sometimes two to three cups a day. I chose instant coffee because the price is much cheaper. With 1 dollars can get at least 10 sachets. Usually I buy coffee that has been mixed with other ingredients, such as milk, mocca and other flavors because the taste becomes more unique. But now I drink black coffee more often without a mixture. I think the taste of the coffee is stronger and also much cheaper. And can keep me awake at night, because I often sleep late. Have a nice coffee. By the way, have you ever had coffee from Indonesia?
