Designer Babies

Designer babies is the concept of genetically modifying the DNA of embryos during the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process to create a baby with specific desired traits. These traits could include physical characteristics such as height, hair or eye color, or even intelligence, athletic ability, or resistance to certain diseases. The idea behind designer babies is to allow parents to have greater control over the genetic makeup of their offspring and potentially give them advantages in life.
Is this really a good thing?
Sounds awesome but this could lead to a society where people are valued based on their genetic makeup rather than their inherent worth as individuals.
On the other hand, this concept can potentially lead to the prevention of genetic diseases and disorders.
What's your take on this?

I don't think it's good to interfere with genetics. This could lead to bad results. Scientists should exhaust all means of study before deciding to do this. Unless, the procedure is proven to produce good results, people should never mess with the flow of natural things.

I have mixed feelings. As you said it could prevent many diseases. But then I think about Hitler and what he tried to do

Oh! Nothing sounds exciting about it..I am a parent with two daughters. They are so different and so different from us too. But we love each other and accept and support each other. Family is all about that. This does not sound like any unconditional love that is so much talked about in a parent child relationship. It's more like buying something with specifications.

You are right. As parents, we feel so blessed to have our kids. We have lovingly accepted them just the way they are. But that does not mean others have to follow our lead.
If one can afford it, as I doubt such procedures are cheap, then why not? Every parent has a choice. As long as they aren't engaging in any harmful acts, I say why not.

@coolimrose Hmm...there would be always some logical reasoning backing such things. It's my very strong personal opinion that when it comes to beautiful human bonding, heart should be placed above head to enjoy the bliss. Interfering with Nature is not good..
