Should the media only publish good news?

It is a fact that most news in China is controlled. They were filtered so that the locals would not know what was going on around the globe. It seems that they can get the Chinese people to know some facts. In fact, they are using VPN to access the international sites. Another thing is that they cannot even control Chinese people traveling to other states. Thus, they can still know any information that the Chinese government cannot conceal. Did you know that 90% to 95% of Chinese people were infected by the coronavirus in December 2022? Image Credit: newint.org

Statistics of corona virus were even not accurate in India. Many cases went without reporting.

@aninditasen It is also the same thing in my country. The manner of taking the accurate statistics should still be improved. @Laurakemunto

@Shavkat I agree with you but the political system wants and is in control of everything so sad

I don't know which is worse - someone choosing which facts you get to hear, or being able to get unrestricted access to information, and having to wade through so much misinformation you can't decide what is true and what is false!

@sulynsi That is the sad part. There are so many fake news circulating on the Internet. We need more time to validate them. As for me, I just wanted to have the transparency in receiving news. @Laurakemunto

I would prefer that only the truth were reported whether it's good or bad. Of course we all want to see good news but sometimes we need to know about whats bad out there.

Most of my Chinese students were infected and claimed that they are blaming their government for uplifting the lockdown abruptly. That is the reason why the incident was so high at that time.

@Shavkat The authorities in most countries never released the real data. Many more people had Covid than they declared.

If the media only published good news there will be not so much to publish unfortunately. But too bad so many are all so biased.

I agree. It seems that they still need to maintain or even sustain transparency in giving news as much as possible.

@Shavkat Of course but that will never happen with many media sources.

That is the reason why I prefer to read local newspapers because they are more reliable. Surfing the Internet for news can always bring us to having fake news.

No. We need to know what's going on in our world. BUT, good news should be included in the middle and near the end of the broadcast so that people can have happy thoughts, too.

The news are always over bloated exaggeration written by reporters who received the highest bidder from the content buzzer that are reported live from the place of incident therefore when we need to catch the real life honest news we must look for the good source not from the overwhelmed manipulative news content that went live reported on air.

I don't necessarily think that only good news should be published. I'd be happy if the news was unbiased and not sensationalized.

I think the news should report all news, good or bad, and I think that they should report the news objectively, without bias. Fat chance that ever happens. As for China, what a miserable place.

A bad news can make us learn from mistake. Good news and bad news is always good for me as long as that's the fact.
