Notifications in Order or Skipping Around?

There is really no rhyme or reason to what I do with my notifications. But I do know I tend to stagger and skip around a bit when I go through them. I do make it a point to try to get to older ones first. But then, I jump around all over the site with no real set plan in place. Answer a couple of notifications, then answer a couple of posts in Most Recent Activity, answer some of my own posts and so on and so forth. Newer posts I also tend to delete the notifications altogether, simply because I find it is easier to go to the post and answer what I want rather than through the notification. What's your method of myLotting when it comes to this sort of thing?

I get sidetracked easily. I try to start with the ones on my post and then go to the older notifications but I can get caught up on a post and other comments and next thing you know my notifications are still adding up.

Where I get confused is on the multiple thread posts notifications. I really enjoy the heavier conversations, but it really loads up the notifications and it is much harder to keep track. But try I do. lol

I wish I had so many responses that I needed to weed out notifications that are not as desirable!

I have to admit that some days it can become a bit daunting. If you stick around here long enough they just sort of happen.

I usually check the most recent first because it's easier. I delete those read and the list gets shorter so I can reach the older.

@porwest - I do my best to be here and read as many discussions as I can. Taking care of my husband takes a very large part of my time.

@porwest - When he is busy reading a book, I come to myLot.

@LadyDuck I can imagine that it does. And certainly, he takes precedence over myLot.

I answer the notification, then go to the person who answered and read their post and comment. Eventually, I read everything my friends have written, or at least make a good effort. Some people don't post often, so keeping up with them is easy.

@porwest I can understand that. I tried something new last year with the notifications, but found it made no difference in the approach I made to them as I still read all of them.

@just4him I hate missing a notification. It happens rarely, but it always irks me when it does.

I have lately resorted to Most Recent Discussions as my main source for finding new posts to respond to, and I usually remember where I left off, so I also know when I have run through all of the new ones. But I do spend a lot of time on my notifications page as well. I just wish, sometimes, that we had more than 7 days to get to them. Because a lot of my conversations are a bit more "involved," like say, political discussions, I don't want to just rush through them. But I also want to be on top of my game.

First I go through, read and comment on all Discussions for the people that I follow. Then I do the Notifications, starting with the oldest one first.

That seems like a good way to go about it. I wish I could say I am as regimented, but I am not.

It is my habits to clear the notification first. I find it a distraction to keep having the notifcation.

I like to get through them as well. I hate losing them after 7 days when they expire and disappear, so I try to avoid that.

When I do a new post, I answer all the responses and then eliminate the notifications for that subject except for new ones. When I grow tired of a subject after many posts, I skip around a lt and ex out the ones I answered.

@porwest Sometimes I read every comment and answer on the entire thread of one of my discussions and answer any that need it and then deleted all the notifications for that. It clears my list and often I find someone I forgot to answer.

@akalinus It amazes me how many comments on older post I overlooked or missed. I like getting to all of them eventually. After all, the people took the time to leave a comment, I ought to respond to it in some way.

One thing I learned, is that everyone has their own way of doing things. It IS interesting how some people do it though. Either way, whatever works for someone is of course, the best way for that person.

I look at my notifications going top to the last one I saw the week before. Then I do my post and then look at posts in all activity of follows.

Lately I have been going through some notifications, then checking my discussions to see if I missed anything, then go to Most Recent Discussions.

When I am answering the notifications, oldest first works best for me. I will still sometimes skip around a bit.

I usually check newest posts themselves and answer everything, and then go through the rest of the notifications in order. Finally, check out some new posts if I have time.

I have become quite selective in what I read anymore. With limited time, I can't read everything and if the title doesn't immediately grab me, I tend to leave it alone.

@MommyOfEli2013 lol. Why did you immediately assume your titles are the reason I hardly visit your posts? lol

I give justice to all of them though they're too many but yet I finish them. I go first for the old to the newest. I never procrastinate for they spend time in interacting.

Usually what I do is turn of notif for mylotters who like. I only turn on for those who needs response. Than I open discussion, post a day, then go to my recent activity and, there. The end.

I try to do notifications in order from oldest to newest. That way I don't lose any, if I get behind.

Same here. I start at the bottom and work my way up. SOMETIMES I skip around a LITTLE bit. But mostly I start from the bottom and work my way up.
