Dozens of cricket photos - but it was the wrong match

My husband, Vince, went off early this morning to take photos at a cricket match. His niece’s son was playing but we’ve only met him once or twice and Vince was having trouble picking him out. One of the spectators told him it was Liam bowling so he got some shots and was just about to head for home when he discovered that it was a different Liam. ‘Our’ Liam’s match was just about to start. So he stayed a couple more hours and managed to get some good photos. He even got a couple of shots of batsmen getting out. I’ve added one here. You can see the stumps have been hit by the ball which means the batsman that was in is now out. Edit: The wickets are the three red and white short pegs. They normally have a 'bail' - a short piece of wood - across the top. Dislodge the bail and the batsman is declared 'out'.

If he is a fan of Cricket, then I guess it was no hardship! I can't take more than an hour or so!

It was quite a hardship! And he has photos of a mudlark, a helicopter, a big dog and a willy wagtail which sort of says something about how dedicated he is to cricket. The wagtail he was able to make friends with which pleased him.

I hate when my favorite batsman is declared out. However, it is all in the game.

We are not really cricket fans but Vince had to take photos of his relation.

Now surely Vince would soon become a big cricket fan! And may be he would start touring MCG, SCG etc when the Aussie national team plays there!! Liam seems like a good bowler and may be he gets recognition soon. I observe a few care just outside the ground. Now if a lofted shot is played, can't it break the mirrors of the car? (Breaking of glass panes in school used to happen sometimes, even with a Tennis ball used to play cricket).

Hopefully the cars are further away than they look. I haven't heard of balls smashing into cars.

True, but what be the odds of the two boys having the same name? And the Indian lady that Vince said she knew it was Liam because he went to school with her son - but of course, still the wrong Liam! lol

There is a great joke about the ins and outs of cricket. Every game/hobby/pastime has its own jargon, doesn't it?

He would have been quite annoyed if he hadn't. We don't really have another free weekend now before we leave for Ireland.

It was funny that he had tried to check and thought he had the right match.

I have learned some of the rules of cricket from my Indian friends here. I've never watched an entire match, though.

I've never been quilty of that either. The Indians really love their cricket.
