Upsetting My Apple Cart?

I wonder if the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool Chat GPT can upset my apple cart. Upset The Apple Cart is an idiom meaning: Causing trouble , specifically -- spoiling someone's plans, or to disturb, upset or change. For some years now l have procrastinated concerning the publication of my book of poems. I kept putting it off, but had definite plans to go ahead early this year. Enter AI's ChatGPT--a tool which facilitates someone with little or no talent to write and publish books. How will anyone know if my book of poems is a result of my own creative mind? Right now Amazon is flooded with ChatGPT generated books , "which could drown out books written by humans" warn experts. What do you think ? Is there cause for real concern or should we simply accept the advancement of technology? Pixabay image

Wow, there has got to be a way to weed those out. I am publishing my book on Amazon today...I will still have to wait 3 days for it to go live though.

Oh yes, your book. I am happy to hear it is being published. Let us know the title.

@Kandae11 It is called Unseen Party. Hopefully, I will be able to finish the process this evening. I decided to take a break. Then there is a 3 day wait until it goes live as I mentioned up above.

I do not like at all to see books written using ChatGPT flooding Amazon. I hope that people are smart enough to buy only books written by humans. Publish your book, ChatGPT will be short lived.

@Kandae11 I am only going to buy books that are not "just published". I am not interested in books written by robots. Go ahead with yours. This fad will vanish.

We might feel more confident with books published before the past six months or with well known authors. I will go ahead with mine.

I think it’s awful if people write books using that. It’s not their own talent and they shouldn’t be credited with it. I hope your book of poems when published sells well. I used to love poetry when I was young.

Amazon should weed those books out and ban them! If I were you, I would go ahead and publish. There are many avid readers who can tell what's real and what isn't. I would also state in the book that it's your own work and not Al generated.

@Kandae11 I agree, but we must be wary of the new "authors" except for you and friends we know who are real authors.

I suppose we'll see a flood of new 'authors' around and people might want to stick with the well known ones - like John Grisham, Daniele Steel and a host of others.

I think there is cause for concern but I don't know what can be done about it. I hope they come up with something that helps them detect the AI stuff.

It is like a real painting and a digital painting - and that's the difference. Surely a cause for concern.

Until a few weeks ago I had never even heard of ChatGPT, now it seems to be everywhere. I guess I would have to find out a bit more about it before commenting.

Seems like it was around from November last year. I heard about it a little over a month ago and wrote a post about it.

I don't know much about ChatGPT, but sounds like using Cliff Notes or cheating to me. Part of achieving is learning it on your own.
