Scarred for Life

My poor grandson caught the edge of a hockey ice skate in a dog pile, which I think was when the team surrounded him tightly after a game and jumped on him after a win. Tsk. Tsk. I snuck this off his TikTok video. That’s why there are words across his beautiful face. He chose Anxiety by Megan Thee Stallion. You can look up the lyrics to find out what the word with the ***** means. Anyway, he had stitches and is doing fine. Hubs, his dad, and my younger son all said it goes with the territory of playing ice hockey. His mother and I live in fear, but boys will be boys I guess.

Ouch. I can’t take pain anymore. I cried when the dermatologist took a mole off. Yes, boys will be boys, and it’s part of hockey. There are two things in life that have 40 legs and six teeth: a hockey team, and the front row of a Willie Nelson concert.

It hurts me more to look at something like that. I'm still tough when it comes to me - sort of. You are so funny Just told that to hubs, and got a laugh out of him

@DianneN — glad you enjoyed it. I’ll be here all week. Tip your wait staff, drive safely, and don’t forget the pizza buffet and three shows on Saturday.

Hmm I didn’t think that’s what a dog pile was. I’ve never watched a game so I was picturing something else a pile up but not over a win. I’ve learned something today . If they do the stitches very well and he uses maderma or something like that it may not show someday. I hope anyway . Look at those amazing eye lashes though

I'm still trying to learn all about ice hockey. Never watched a game in my life until he started playing. He received the stitches from a plastic surgeon, but good idea about that Mederma. If he has a scar that bothers him, he can have is layered away. I wish I had those lashes myself

OUch, it musta hurt getting that stitched up. I got whacked in the eyebrow with a shovel full of dirt as a tot, and had to have stitches. The scar is permanent but the eyebrow covers it. A scar will make him look a bit more macho. Anyway, vitamin E oil can fade them.

@DianneN That;s good.. Yeah, in a way it was hilarious. at the doctor's office I was freaking out screaming and crying, due to the pain took 2 or 3 people to hold me down..but in the end they offered me a lollypop for being a good girl...how ironic...

He's a tough kid and was numbed up first. I like the idea of Vitamin E oil. Yikes to you! So glad your eyebrow covers your scar.

@snowy22315 Kids love their lollipops! Our older son needed to have blood drawn from his finger when he was about 3 years old, but cried and wouldn't let the nurse take his hand. So hubs volunteered so my son would see how easy and painless it was. Unfortunately, my husband's finger wouldn't stop bleeding, but my son never saw that

Sometimes in life you get hurt, but then you get yourself back up and start again. He'll be just fine.

Ouch, I hope he is fine now. Thanks God now you can "delete" scars with laser. It worked for the grandson of one of our friends.

@DianneN May be the scar will not be even visible. For the moment he only needs to stay quiet until he is fine.

@LadyDuck Thanks. Only time will tell. He broke a finger a few years ago when the coach was shooting pucks at him during practice, and broke his nose when a woman crashed into him while they were sledding. Never a dull moment.

He's doing okay and had a good plastic surgeon. I had a scar removed by a laser from plastic surgeon, so if he needs it, he'll get it. Too soon to tell anything right now.

Thank the Lord for that. He's back in school and can't have gym class until the stitches are removed next week. And definitely no hockey practice or games for a while.

It is a brutal game, but he's loved hockey since he was 3 years old. He's also a tennis player and avid horseback rider/jumper. My other son played football. It's important to let the kids do what they love without putting fear into them. Sigh......

@JamesHxstatic My granddaughter broke her ankle twice during off ice practice, so..... I've always been afraid of most sports, but do them anyway. My only injuries were getting hit by a tennis ball in the throat and falling while going after a racquetball. I tore a hole in the knee of my pants.

Thanks, Thelma. He's all stitched up now and will recover quickly. If he does develop a scar, he can have it layered off someday His eyelashes used to get caught in his eyes when he was a baby. I wish I had that problem

I feel awful when my babies get hurt. His finger was broken by a puck by his coach during practice. He broke his nose when an adult woman crashed into him while sledding. I hope this is the end of his injuries.
