What did nobody ever tell you about being pregnant or being a mom?

Everyone seems to have a story about this, something that they had to find out the hard way because nobody thought to tell them. So while you were pregnant, in labor, or as a parent, what did you learn the hard way?
Here's what I learned. I learned that when they say your baby will lose their body fuzz in the first couple weeks after birth, they mean ALL OF IT. I was at home with my 2 week old son, giving him his first full imersion bath after his cord fell off. And as I washed him, the hair on his head started to come out. He had huge bald patches where there used to be all this blonde hair! I was so scared, I thought maybe I'd rubbed him too hard or that the soap was too harsh or something. But everyone told me after that "oh, that's normal." Couldn't they have told me that BEFORE I freaked out!?

I wish that I know more about post partum depression before I had kids. I suffered from it greatly after having my first. When I went for my prenatal classes, they glossed over the subject and said "it's rare and it probably won't happen to you but just be prepared you may feel depressed, tired and isolated but not likely".. well that is bull and it happened to me. I wish I was better prepared. For my family's sake too because I was accused of being lazy when I had it!

I kind of had this problem too, but I think it was more due to sleep depravation. I was just so exhausted, and I kept thinking "what have I gotten myself into??"

No one ever told me how much and how loud babies cry, lol! I had no clue all that noise could come from such a little tiny thing. Now that mine are 4&7 they are still loud, I wonder how they can just keep talking and talking, how do they come up with that much to talk about. Maybe I should hit them up for some ideas about what to post on Mylot hahaha.

Hahaha! I'm discovering that myself. I got (HAD) to spend a day with a coworker's daughter, who was 11 at the time. She just would not shut up! Made me realize how annoying I was when I was that age...so when I got home from work, I called my mom and apologized!
My son only seems to have two volumes, way too loud and way too soft!

The cord falling off really threw me for a loop. Nobody had said anything about it falling off. I mean I knew it wasn't going to stay on there forever, but it just really surprised me when I found it in my son's gown. It was gross!
