Are you bothered when people forget your name?

Despite knowing someone, I won't take offense if they don't remember my name. If one of the people close to me did this, it would be disastrous. I won't become irritated. Feelings of disappointment or irritability would result. If my 104-year-old grandmother were in that circumstance, it wouldn't be a big concern. She remembered me and the rest of my family before she passed away, despite her old age.

No, it wouldn't bother me. I often forget names of people I know. At jobs where I've worked with the same people for years, I forget their names... I called everyone ma'am or sir...

@Shavkat Out of the familiar environment of work, we don't think about people we work with.

If an old person forgets my name it is no botheration. But when I was a student whenever my teacher used to forget my name i used to immediately remind her or him about it. The reason was that I participated in curricular and extra curricular activities and right name matters a lot there.

I have an uncle who always when you call him, he asks who are you? I got irritated and never called him again.

@Laurakemunto I am sorry to hear this. Perhaps it is one of the effects of the aging process.

If a close friend forgot my name, I would worry about her mental state. For an acquaintance who got my name wrong, it wouldn't bother me.

Sometimes names just get lost in your brain and it takes some time to remember, so I wouldn't take offence if they forget.

I remember the names of close friends and relatives. But when distance comes between people there is a tendency to forget their name. I've tried all the tricks too without success.
When I worked at our local high school I remembered every students, teacher, staff, and parents names. Now I recall their faces and a few of their names.
