Here is what I wrote for the back cover of Where Eagles Soar. I hope it entices people to buy the book when it becomes available in April.
Peter Langford is a single man who wants a wife. Living in the new state of Alaska where men outnumber women, and those women are mostly found in saloons, he decided to put an ad in the newspaper for a wife. Peter is a surveyor by trade and a man of solid Christian beliefs and wants a good strong god-fearing woman for his wife. He gets help from his pastor, Reverend Forsythe, and from his partner, Moses Hawthorne, and his wife Naomi. The local dry goods owner, Boris Servonivich, also thinks about what he should do for a wife. Peter’s constant companion is a wolfdog named Scout whom he found rummaging through his pack on his arrival in Alaska. His other companion is Sergei who taught him about dog sledding and helps with his homestead.
Heather Whitcomb is the daughter of a minister in Boston, Massachusetts. She has a teaching certificate but has been unable to find a job. She sees the ad in the newspaper and sets out to answer it when her father takes the paper from her and forbids her to answer it. Instead, he gets her a job as a companion to Mrs. Jameson. Mrs. Jameson has a grandson, Lowell, who is more than a little interested in Heather as his wife and goes behind her back to ask her father for her hand in marriage, which he agrees to. It is only then Lowell’s true character comes out.
Will Heather escape Lowell’s attention and make her way to Alaska? How will Peter Langford react to this threat against the woman he chose as his bride?
Valerie Jean Routhieaux is the author of seven books: a four-book Colonial America Historical fiction series, a two-book Island Paradise Mystery series, and a stand-alone Suspense Romance. When not writing, Valerie enjoys swimming at the local YWCA and is a Green Bay Writer’s Guild member. Valerie has three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
What do you think? Thank you for reading. The image belongs to me.

It's good. If I can find it in an audio format that won't put me to sleep, I might consider it.

Please don't take offence but I think it is unnecessarily long, especially the first paragraph. I don't think you need all that detail about all the people who are going to help Peter. Also a bit repetitive in places. Otherwise the story sounds enticing : )

It's a romance novel? I would still read it. And I do like the image for the back cover, too.

I would not call this a romance. In fact, I don't know what genre to put it in other than historical since it's set in 1872. Maybe historical romance, but even that doesn't sound right. The bride is already determined. It's a mail-order bride book. If they had that for a genre, it would be easy to identify it.
I'm glad you would read it. Thank you. I'm glad you like the cover.

I want to read your books. I have some of them on my list on Amazon, but right now I am reading one book and need to read two other books.
