My "to do" List Is Getting Smaller

Happy Thursday Everyone!
I finally called and put in an order for our Easter dinner. Decided that catering it would be easier than shopping, cooking, etc. We're going with Italian food and even though it isn't typically traditional at least it's something everyone eats.
I remember the days when family would come to my house and I would cook but of course I was younger back then and had a lot more energy than I do now.
These days I'd much rather enjoy my company than be standing over a hot stove.
It's worth the money to me to let someone else do the cooking.
That's one less thing I have to worry about. It always feels good when I can cross something off my "to do" list.

Sis and I were just discussing Easter dinner this AM, she was wondering if we might be able to do it on Saturday since her sons have to work on Monday and probably want to take off early afternoon on Sunday. The thing is, not sure what time we will be up there on Saturday. I wouldn't want to give a time, and not be able to be there. You never know about traffic. So, we will see.

It's hard to organize a time when you have to travel and worry about traffic. I'm sure you and your sister will be able to work it all out.

@Marilynda1225 Yes, it may not be ideal but we will find an accomodation.

Maybe but when I used to watch mom cook it wasn't anything like todays instant this or that, she'd spend hours prepping her various dishes and then it was always delicious.

That's a great help to the cook to help clean up. Sometimes the clean up is harder than the cooking.

Since my grandkids are getting older I treasure the time i get to spend with them. I'd rather they remember me for me than forget me because I spent all my time in the kitchen.

This is the easiest way to have good food and enjoy the day. I'm doing the dinner and my family will bring appetizers and dessert.

That's a good idea. Enjoy the time with your family. Let someone else do the cooking.

I never thought I'd reach this stage in my life where I wouldn't want to serve my own food. But, here we are and I'm looking forward to enjoying my company

Sometimes it's hard to find a meal that everyone will eat. This seemed like the best solution.

Visiting with guests is always better when you aren't also needing to cook for them. It's a lot more enjoyable for everyone to be relaxed and having a good time talking.

That's a good way to go. We don't do anything special for Easter

I'm glad you have your dinner ordered.
I'm still a slave to my stove and kitchen for holidays. I'm looking forward to it. I should have it all cooked and ready to serve when everyone gets here.

I fully understand that you'd prefer to spend time with the family rather than spend all your time cooking.

I totally agree there. It's more important to enjoy the company and not be too exhausted by the time they come. I could be quick in organising a dinner for so many people with home cooked meals when I was in 20s and 30s. Now I don't have that much of energy and I feel overwhelmed if there are more than two families. I just order few things and cook some at home.

My brother always hosts the family. We can bring a dish and contribute if we choose to. I do not like to do a lot of cooking anymore, although it seems like I am always doing it. I will for sure make a peanut butter pie.

That is true if you do catered food you can relax and just enjoy your day and the guests. I haven’t fully decided what I will be making for Easter dinner yet. At the superbowl I ate too much sugar and don’t want that to happen again.

I hope you have a joyful Easter. I will be alone with my cat and am good with that. My son and I will FaceChat, and I may do the same with one of my cousins.
Fourteen years ago, it was just two of us (my son and me) for Easter dinner. I bought all the usual stuff but in smaller portions. He was in his mid-teens then and didn't think he would like not having Easter with the rest of the family, but he came to me later and told me it was the best one yet. Since then, when we can get together, we keep it real and small.
