What a big TV screen!

The collage shows the huge TV screen which has been set up in a square in Ballina, Ireland. Tonight, some of the overflow crowd will no doubt watch Joe Biden’s address from here. The big truck has been there for a couple of days and we wondered why. When we walked down today, we discovered there is a huge screen which has popped up through the roof. The heavy doors we noticed have been opened to allow hydraulic legs to go to the ground to stabilise the whole affair (lower left). There would be a lot of wind resistance in the screen. Top right shows the back of the screen and again, very heavy steel framework supports the screen. There is a generator purring away quietly behind the truck. Lower left shows one of the camera crews getting organised. It’s fine and sunny at the moment. Wouldn’t it be lovely if it stayed that way?

You'd better believe it. There were 20,000+ in Ballina alone to listen to him and they came from all parts of the country.

Wow, that’s big! Rock concert big! They have a big screen at Churchill Downs now…for what, I don’t know. They survived 145 years without it.

We are staying next to his ancestral home and hoping he might do a walk by here. Later, we might go down to watch it on a big screen TV. It will be too long a wait and too cold to go to the actual event.

We decided against it. Too much standing and too long in the cold and possible wet. We chose wisely as it turned out.

He gave a very inspiring speech but we just watched him on the TV at home. It was too cold and wet to entice us out, once it got dark. He didn't speak till about 9.20pm.

He came here when he was vice-president and came to our 'backyard', so to speak as that is where his ancestral home is.

It is indeed a huge TV screen. It would be good to watch a movie or concert in that area. Even from a distance, one can see it. I think a large crown will show up for Pres. Biden. I assume he has close ties with Ireland.

His great-great-great-grandfather lived here and he has visited before. They have some big-name Irish bands entertaining the crowd beforehand.
