"You are cordially invited to visit the new Black Hills Manor Writing Retreat."
That's how it all begins - with a simple invitation.
For five authors, it's meant to be the start of a restful week, filled with free food, drinks, and likeminded company. But shortly after their arrival, things take an unsettling turn.
Broken property, missing items, and strange noises are just some of the odd occurrences that have each member questioning their companions. As suspicions mount, the authors are pitted against each other.
Whom can they trust in a house full of strangers?
With tensions rising, the writers find themselves in the middle of their own mystery. Death, terror, and despair are common elements in their books, but at the Black Hills Manor, the murders being plotted are their own.

A book about a writing retreat? It doesn't get better than this. Five mystery/thriller writers, even better. Scary, spooky things happening. Great. Though AGAIN I didn't figure out the whodunnit (and I really thought I had), the writing aspect of this story has given me a little motivation to get back to my writing. (No, the scary didn't not deter me from writing). A writing retreat is on my bucket list so I loved this storyline.
Such an easy read. Could probably have read it in one sitting if I were that kind of person, but I read it in two. The story is written in two timelines (then and now), with more focus on the "now".
Kiersten Modglin knocks it out of the park again with another great thriller story.

If I could read and concentrate, I would read this.
Sounds like it would be a good film too.

@RubyHawk That's where the benefit of apps like Goodreads comes in. You can check to see if you've read a book before you borrow or buy it. I also have a spread sheet which I print out now and then. So I have a folder of all the books I've read since 7th grade.

It sounds like something I would like to read. Is it a newer book. I have not heard anything about this book until now.
