The Well-Groomed Cat

Today my cats have short fur. They are not too thrilled with brushing but will let me use a regular cat brush. With fondness, I remember my darling cat Sid. He had long fur and since he went outdoors too we had to brush him. I remember we tried two different cat brushes and one of them Sid smacked out of my hands. Now, if this loving and gentle cat could do that we were on the wrong track when it came to brushes. Then one day I saw Martin calmly brushing Sid. I walked up to them and took a look. He was brushing the cat with a brush that was meant for brushing wool coats. Well, we never used the brush because we had no wool coats so I agreed to use it for Sid. He loved being brushed with it and here he looks like a pinup as the well-groomed cat hugging his favorite brush to himself.

I don't brush Chilly, I doubt he'd take to it. He's a shorthair, so he really doesn't need it.

@kaylachan just like my cats. The one time I took a cat brush and gently brushed Freddie he gave me a look like I was killing him and then ran off and I never tried again

@shaggin it is meant to brush all the dirt and things that might be clinging to the coats.

Sid was handsome. Ginger is short hair too and so so with being brushed. I have been able to give her baths as of late which is good. Since she is older, she doesn't groom herself as well as when she was younger. So once a month or so Mike and I will bath her as much as she will let us. What she likes is when I use the hair dryer to help dry her off.

@RasmaSandra I found if I am standing in the tub with her and Mike outside of it she is calmer. She certainly isn't a fan but she seems more content afterward. I wish that I had begun a routine with her at an earlier age.
