Black Forest Cake

I got to taste this cake while on a tour of Germany Nothing like getting the taste of something at a place it originated. We were in the Black Forest area and we were taken to a restaurant where they served this cake. I like baking and I followed a recipe on youtube and tried to bake this cake but it was nowhere near what I had tasted. A lot could perhaps be the quality of ingredients. I have tasted this cake bought here in India and again it never matched what I ate while I was in Germany. Have you tasted this cake? m Image credit:

Never tasted the German cake version. I have tasted our local version and maybe I am not that impressed with it as they tasted like our local varieties of cakes that only differ in the looks of the cake.

@allknowing Good for you that you have a basis for comparison since you already tasted the original ones. I am just curios too how the original ones tasted.

@rsa101 Belgian chocolates have better milk as Indian cows do not produce that good quality milk

Even India tries to imitate and never can reach there. I had a bad experience ordering for some Belgian chocolates and was disappointed.

This is the most popular cake here in Switzerland. I usually bake it myself, when I have no time I buy at a local bakery. This one in the photo is the original Black Forest cake, as they make it in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Wow!! Looks super. I am glad I got to taste a bit of it because what we get here is a poor imitation.

@allknowing I bought the Black Forest cake from the bakery and I haven't been to Germany to have this cake. So I can't really tell whether this is exactly like the original taste.

I have tasted our version here but not the German version. I have tasted another Indian cake which was a fruit cake. Had lots of dried fruits and very sugary
