Noise in a quiet place.

I took a post-jentacular dander this morning, around 8 o’clock and the peace of the bucolic pastureland through which I wandered was shattered and spoiled by two chattering women. From no less that 200 metres I could hear their inane chit chat breathed out like a crackling bushfire, drifting across the silent fields. Their conversation, if it can be referred to as such, was utterly lacking in interest, nothing more than a series of disconnected banalities issued at high volume. They were communicating as if they were in a rowdy night club where they needed to compete with other rowdies and irritating boom boom music. Why can’t people just have a quiet chat?

That sort of thing is very annoying. But at least they were talking in person and it wasn't just one person shouting into their mobile phone.

@fleura Have you ever been tempted to grab someone’s phone and chuck it under a passing car? In the early days of mobiles I saw a young rogue sneak up behind an elderly lady talking loudly into her phone and shout very rude words into her phone!

@xFiacre No, but I have often been tempted to join in the conversation! When you're sitting near someone on public transport for example, and they're just saying very loudly 'I'M ON THE TRAIN!' I really want to shout out 'And so am I!'

Of course, everyone's character is different. Some can talk in a soft voice, and some can talk in a loud voice, as if they were the only ones in this world.
