Yes, it was an exciting day. I have never planned to see castles in my short trip with my hubby here at Mosel village. But then, I am adventurous and spontaneous. I went to another castle again nearby. There are many castles here and I was surprised. It was the Eltz Castle I have been to. My hubby was just waiting for me in the car park while I went exploring the castle. I thought it would be only an hour to explore. Eltz castle was built in 1157 and it is still in good condition. I had to walk from the parking place for 15 minutes to the castle. The castle was in the middle of the forest and I liked it. I took a guide tour in German language as the English tour was half an hour later. It took me 2 hours plus the walk back to the parking place. Going back took me longer than going to the castle. Yes, as you can imagine, I am knackered now. I know I have a patience hubby. It was ok for him to wait. He never complained. Lucky me.

He has COPD and can’t take long walks. It was slippery on the way to the palace and I was glad I saved him the hassle. Thank you @LadyDuck,

It looks pretty. Do you know its elevation? Has it been renovated? Or was it just really well built close to a thousand years ago?

Yes, it is pretty @TheHorse. I don’t know the elevation. Yes, a renovation is on going as you can see the photo. The tour guide said that it is a 900 years old palace but was not damage by the war. Thank you.

I was only 7 years old when I was in a German castle in 1957, it was still being repaired after the damage sustained from WWII

Glad you had a great day! I almost think I might have been to that castle. I have certainly visited a similar one on a rocky outcrop but I can't remember the name. Here's a picture, maybe you could tell me if it's the same one?

@thelme55 It was in 2014. My friend from MN, and her daughter, were visiting Germany, meeting long-lost relatives and then doing a bit of touring. So we went over to meet up with her - easier than going to the US especially as we had a toddler then. We all had a very interesting day at the castle.
