Hi...to all mylot friends... Many friends and relatives saying eating banana at night is not good to health...Also we caught up by Cold. Regular eating bananas increase blood sugar level. Many people suffer diabetes mainly because of regularly eating more bananas... My Dad too ate more bananas and suffered from heavy cold and he had parkinson disease too.Unfortunately he left us because of that heavy cold.I miss you dad

I thought they were a good thing to eat at night because they can help you sleep, they contain tryptophan which is converted to melatonin, the sleep hormone, and they contain magnesium and potassium which helps relaxation. Yes they contain sugar, like all fruits. Diabetes certainly isn't increasing because people are eating more fruit!

I see no reason why it should be harmful to eat bananas at night. Rice also increased blood sugar levels. As everything it is the quantity that matters.

@manikarnika No matter how you cook the rice it increases sugar level, particularly white rice.

Bananas are healthy unless you have high potassium. I can't eat bananas because my potassium is too high. I wouldn't think they would cause diabetes, but I haven't checked that out.

Too many bananas without enough protein along side could be hard on your blood sugar. It does not cause a cold or parkinson's disease, though. We eat maybe one, maybe two bananas per day.

@manikarnika A cold is caused by a virus. Other things like pneumonia can be caused by bacteria after a virus. The worst fruit can do is maybe give you upset stomach if you eat too much.

Bananas are very good for one's health but like with any other food, moderation is key. Bananas alone cannot cause diabetes.

I have no idea. It's said however to have fruits on empty stomach. It depends on your body and your lifestyle. If you exercise daily one can eat them daily too

Anything with sugar can increase sugar levels temporarily. I have bananas often and haven't had any problems.

I eat bananas even during night time and I still feel well. In fact, a banana with milk will help you fall asleep. By the way, are you a fan of "Three Idiots"?

I eat a banana every day, and my sugar levels are just fine. I would think you would need to eat a dozen or more bananas at one time to get enough sugar to worry about diabetes.
